Feds Bust 83 in Florida Marriage Fraud Scam

"Operation Knot So Fast" Gotta love the Pun "Knot so Fast" LOL. These Guys marrying the Visa Overstayers sure work cheap. Here In Miami the Price tag on the street in weston, Kendall, Miami beach is rumored to be minimally $15K. Get caught up in these scams a Good Attorney to extract your A$$ legally will set you back at least $10K. These Guys worked for chump change considering the legal downside,,,

"Ender Rodriguez, 52, of Kissimmee, is accused of conspiring and arranging at least 14 sham marriages in various Central Florida counties between U.S. citizens and visitors from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Brazil from January 2003 to December 2006. The 28 people involved in those weddings also were charged with immigration fraud."

I saw this on the news. It's about time they (Feds) started nailing these guys who help make it so hard for legitimate people to get their loved ones to the States.

RJ-Very True! These Scammers, of which unfortunately there are many of, ruin it for the Good Honest Folk wanting to work within the framework of our Laws.

Why don't more Colombians get relatives to sponsor them? I'm betting most of these people have relatives who are legal residents. I get the impression the requirements for sponsorship are too high for a lot of legal immigrants to meet, is this the case?

huskie says on May 11, 2008, 07:05:

I hope they all go to jail for a long time, and so for others who will try such scamms! Hurrah for Immigration Law enforcement

Because those types of visas can take ten years or more until a priority date is available and even then they are often denied.

RJ is right. These bastards make it hard for those trying to do things correctly.

Had an ex (Was not at the time) who's sister was a U.K. resident that desired to go to the U.S. for college (2nd time further education). Both my wife (Again at the time) and I was on the sponsorship docs and the mother and father were also U.S. residents. I was making good income both with the Gov't and civilian jobs, and the sister also had a letter from the school, but all was turned down stating not enough income in my account (I had $15K in savings)....go figure.

aztec says on May 12, 2008, 07:32:

'Why don't more Colombians get relatives to sponsor them? I'm betting most of these people have relatives who are legal residents."

Because it takes about 11 years before there is an available visa. Visa's allocation is in part based on how many Colombians are currently here already. There are just so many visa's approved each year and they are prorated. That is why it may be a hundred years before there is one legal visa for Mexicans.

elmodefoque says on May 12, 2008, 07:35:

you give away one visa and whitin 2 years, la vieja, el viejo, los tios, las tias, el hermano, las hermnas, el sobrio, la sobrina, el nieto, la nieta, el yierno, la yierno el perro y el hp gato would be here too.
Look at all the anchor colombian babies walking around USA, milllions!!!!

lpdiver says on May 12, 2008, 07:36:

Plus most of these scams are people who are already here; most illegally, and wish to legitamize themselves. Marriage to a citizen is the best path.

I was the first colombian to arrive, back in the late 50's.
Nearly all other colombians in USA could trace their ancestor to an illegal relative.
somebody in the family married a puerto rican or cuban after overstaying their visas .
or claimed political asylum and chit which is total bullshit
I bumped into this upper middle class family in the airport in medellin/rio negro claiming "political asylum" they dresssed and acted like their were going on a vacation to fokin disney word,
they just got over on the USA government

ColombianoGringo says on May 12, 2008, 08:02:

back in the 50's it was easy to migrate from colombia
My dad's reason fro migrating to USA, BROKEN HEART!
My mom took off with a low life corroncho bus driver. walked away from kids, big home, car, motorcycle etc. a good solid costeno life.
my dad was a reporter for the daily planet, just kidding for a local paper.
He asked for a residencia for himself and us and whithin 6 months i was mamando frio in Manhattan NYC.
It took me nearly 3 years to get over barranquilla. I missed my city so fokin much that at 9 years old i almost jumped out our 5th floor window.
thank you!

Tinto (Moderator) says on May 12, 2008, 08:17:

So your Dad was a newspaper reporter and you had a big house and a CAR in Barranquilla. That sounds like a pretty decent life for 1950s Colombia.

Does that mean the stories about eating dirt and masturbating with the monkeys down by the river are not true?

My parents came up in the late sixties. My dad got some kind of temporary visa and came up to look for work. His brother was already here on a student visa. They both were in Texas for a while, but eventually my uncle went back to fulfill his scholarship obligations with Ecopetrol.

My dad went back to Colombia and brought my mom back, but this time to New York. That's around when I was born. He quickly found a programming job and the employer sponsored him for a permanent visa, but we eventually had to go back to Colombia for over a year to wait for the processing. Once that was done, we went back to New Jersey and three months later, he got drafted into the army. He went to Fort Polk and my mom and I headed back to Colombia. We eventually ended up in West Germany for a few years and then back to the US and settled in Texas.

elmodefoque says on May 12, 2008, 08:22:

tinto, i did all that when i lived with my mothers side of the family.
My dad's family founded barranuilla while my mothers side are a bunch of broke ass wayuu injuns

Tinto (Moderator) says on May 12, 2008, 08:23:
