Can anyone suggest the best way to send flowers or gifts to Colombia for Valentines day? This has been discussed before, but I was hoping for an updated list. I used regalosdecolombia.com before, but it seems kind of expensive now. y soy un HJP barato :-)

All right, I'll ask: How come it took three seconds to euthanize Eight Belles, but the Womens NBA is starting Year 12???

http://www.flora2000.com/ I used them for over 3 years sending flowers approximately 5 times each year, never had a problem and was never disappointed. They did much better than some of the florists I used in the USA and delivering in the USA.

Their prices may be more than ordering direct from a florist in Bogota, but frequently their prices were lower than the same arrangement in the USA.

The Colombian site Since the company serves many countries, the website address for just what you have in Colombia is, http://www.flora2000.com/Shopping/Colombia.asp

Of course the first time I sent my lady roses for Valentines day, she wanted to know why I sent them. Then later in the year Colombia had Día del amor y la Amistad. But it is good, nothing wrong with a special lady getting flowers more than once a year. Best to cover all your bases and send them both days.

I wondered if Valentines day was celebrated in Colombia,(I know of el dia de amor en septiembre) and when I went to regalosdecolombia.com it said "Feb 14th!! Valentine s day is here. !!! Don t miss out this chance to remember your relatives in 2007.

there was not such a thing as Valentine day in Colombia, that new "tradition" came in the last year or so. and only cuz i saw it advertised in el tiempo, my family don't celebrate that, they do celebrate the dia del amor y la amistad.

Find a local florist I know this probably won't help you for V Day, but next time you are down there, find a local florist. I have a florist in Neiva who charges me less than $25 for a huge two dozen rose arrangement with vase included. This is a lot cheaper than the internet based services. I send the florist MoneyGram transfers every few months to cover my bill.

My family Celebrates both. And Valentine's Day for 3 years now.

flowerstocolombia.com Is local to Bogota. The phone number on the website is in Florida but it's answered in Bogota.

May I suggest www.flora2000.com. I think that is the address. If I have used them a dozen times, they are absolutely superb, satisfaction guaranteed. the pieces are always something to rave about and the prices are reasonable on most things.

and, thank you.

It sucks for me... I have always hated Valentine's Day. And it is correct there is Día del amor y la Amistad in September (the date varies from year to year). Of course I never forget this day, but once I was feeling romantic and indulged her by sending her flowers and taking her out on Valentine's Day too. The next year however I didn't send them (Val's Day), and I was in the dog house for the longest time. Take it from me - celebrate Día del amor y la Amistad, but not Valentine's Day, or you will forever be committed to both!

utopiacowboy says on Feb 8, 2007, 21:27:

Kat, here is the way it works. The gringo loser sends flowers to his Colombiana on Valentine's Day and her Colombian boyfriend sends them to her on el Día del Amor y la Amistad.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

ahhhhh so that's what it is, thank UC. lucky girls.

I am going to ask larry to give me a pressie for Valentines and one for el dia del amor y la amistad, we have to keep the two cultures running in my household huh!

Saltador says on Feb 9, 2007, 06:01:

I've decided not to send anything. I think I've learned from this post, and just hope someday not to be a gringo loser, but maybe as wise and savvy as UC. LOL!

JMCana says on Feb 9, 2007, 06:09:

But remember the movie Remember the movie, Finding Forrester, with Sean Connery. He said the best thing for a woman is an unexpected gift at an unexpected time.

I went for flowers both days and have never regretted it over all these years, it just costs me slightly more each year, but my wife is worth it.
