FBU Bogota

I've had it with them 11 months of dealing with them and my daughter doesn't have her SSN or her rightfully due benefits! My health isn't the greatest. One problem is my heart. I can croak at any minute. I need to get things finished. Maybe I'll live for another 100 years. I don't know.

Can these people be sued or punished in some way?

This WAY NOT RIGHT!

Applied for SSN 8/2006. Told wait 8 mos. waited 8 mos and upon inquiry was told app was misplaced (roundfiled?) and new app received by them 3 mos ago. Below is latest from them.

Dear Mr. XXXXXX, the reply to the request for services from the Social
Security Administration concerning the application for your daughter's
social security number was completed and mailed on May 30, 2007. This
process takes from 6 to 8 months. Therefore, by the end of November you
may expect to receive her social security card.
Sincerely,
Federal Benefits Unit

My responce to them:

So what you are telling me is that my daughter has to wait 15 months from the origional date of application to receive her SSN. If that was your child would you be happy? Why do you people punish others who choose to not live in the USA? Where will the notification be sent? Colombia or the USA.? This is becomeing very old very fast! Every time I send you mail it has to be sent twice before for you to respond. Why? Is that normal proceedure? What gives with you people? It's no wonder that people Stateside go "Postal" with the crummy service and treatment Tax Payers/USA Citizens receive from the goverment. No worries from me, I'm not the "Postal" type. God will provide for you acordingly! You people take more care of illegals than the good citizens of the USA!

OK. This is just a typical load of bulshit that cannot be rectified without your personal appearance ‘over the counter'.
In order that a ‘crossing the hand with silver' can be instigated. Ask for the regional director, this may produce the ‘somewhat dubious' results you need
Personally, I think that you do not have a chance.

It is like India and many other countries, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, Is corrupt.
It is a way of life. Live with it.

If you cannot pay. Tough. Live with it. that is Colombia.
Sorry.

Colombia? No it's the USA consulate. Communications to Ambassador Wood and an e-mail location for comments to SSA have gone unanswered.

Corrupt? No it's their job!

So, I've got to pay to travel to Bogota to talk to them and probably still not receive any progress.

The US embassy is as corrupt as they come. There are only a handful of US citizens in the place anyway not that they care. They treat Colombians like shit and any US citizens who have the misfortune to deal with them like shit too.

WOOD is no longer the ambassador, he left post a few months ago. They are waiting for a new arrival.

The FBU is slow going, you would be better served to get a local number for the main office of social security and telephone them direct.

Yea, that's part of my plan of attack for this week. I had to use and attorney to get my disability started and may have to do the same here. If a person lives abroad, what would be the "local office"? Will try calling the international number and maybe the office/city where my mail is forwarded.

I'm open to all suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info on Wood.

Actually I've found out (through another sourse) that my daughter has been issued a SSN, but don't know the number. Don't know if the notification will be sent to my Stateside address or FBU Bogota will forward it to me here in Colombia, The issue now supposedly is that Direct deposit needs to be set up. I need a SSN for my daughter first, so I can then set up an account.

FBU Bogota doesn't even know that! It's not just Bogota. Clueless! The FBU in Panama couldn't do much either when I had a different problem,

Thanks I'l try anything about now. For the longest time I've been proper and polite. This is the first time I've shown any displeasure with the services or lack of received.
