Castle? You mean the Cathedral? Santuario de Las Lajas is a church and yes, you're right it does take your breath away. When I visited that place being still quite young and recently out of my Finnish woods I felt like in the middle of some Grimm Brothers fairy tale.

DG Las Lajas I think is the only impressive cathedral in Colombia and I think part is because where is situated, but catholics didn't go overboard in Colombia like they did in other countries, i have seen many sumptuous catholics cathedrals in Europe and we are like the poor relatives.

I prefer the old colonial style churches... like the one Desi posted above.Never was partial to La Hermita in Cali.
