Farmers Markets in Bogota??

Does anybody know of any Farmers Markets in Bogota or where I can get a list of them in that area? I am visiting Bogota next week and i would like to visit them ... knowing that they have fresh fruits that we do not have here. Thank You.

When I am in Norte Bogota, I go to Codabas with my girlfriend. It's a great farmers market in the more local tradition. I am told that farmers sell directly. In my experience, the prices are cheaper than the Exito/Carrulla/Cafam stores (which are the big chains). The neighborhood is more run down (even for being on the North) so be careful ... at least that's what she says. I never see the danger.

The address is Carrera 7 # 180

Definately fresh fruits we don't have here ... if "here" is outside of Colombia.

Exito also has fruit. So does Carulla and Carrefour, I believe...

raquel, there is a supermarket called Surtifruver which caters only to fruits and vegetables, it is very worth having a look at if you are looking for exotic fruits. There is a large one at Avenue 9th with 140th Street.

Surtifruver is good and we have never had a problem with Carulla. A little more expensive but since it is only a couple blocks, around the corner, on 7 and Cl 63, there is no driving and close by. Big plus is anything we don't like can easily be exchanged. Open from a bout 7 am to 1o pm.

If you are really interested in tropical and subtropical fruits, their uses and methods of preparation, I would be able to go with you to the big cheap market near the apartment where my wife and I live.
I am familiar with about 100 species of tropical fruits and have recently left my farm in Dominica where I grew many uncommon foods. Fruits are my passion.
