careful, pod. you can't believe how much a decent sized cleat can cost these days. about a year ago I bought six hefty ones - and lightened my wallet in excess of a grand.

The good news is - the replacement boat is in my sights. ;) 3' shorter, but almost new engine, new spars, new sails. she's been sitting out of the water for 5 years, so systems need reviving/restoration (hoses, clamps, etc) but she's even saltier looking than Querencia- for roughly 1/3 of the proceeds from the current sale.

Yes, guilty as charged, but I never hated this site, nor did I try and make a loud goodbye. It seems I was just angered that my opinions were being lambasted, and thought that if I was to be mocked as I shared my views, there was no point in being writing here. I did not know how to express this to the moderators, so I just wrote a thread. I'm not arrogant enough to think anyone would care if I left ;)

It is ironic that the same man who annoyed me enough to leave is now leaving because of harrassment.

I can almost guarantee that john_stark, just like I was way back last year, was just trying to express a point to the people who run the site, rather than asking for trumpets to be blown, etc... and is probably, if reading, annoyed and amused to see people say "no one cares, just leave, don't annouce your departure" when it actually turns out to be one of the most responded to threads. If people really didn't care, they wouldn't take the time to say "we don't care..."

Again, it all just goes to show.
