FARC Kidnaps A Top American Terrorist

"Photos of three Americans held by Colombian guerrillas are displayed prominently in the lobby of the U.S. Embassy in Bogota — and there might soon be an addition to that wall. "

It looks like the FARC has just kidnapped one of the leaders of the Cuban-American National Foundation (CANF) - a US-based terrorist organization - while he was visiting Panama:

It will be interesting to see if this guy is freed on ransom, held along with the other Americans, or perhaps sent to Cuba to face terrorism charges.

"In 1997, the CANF published a statement supporting un-conditionally all terrorist attacks against Cuba; the CANF chairman at the time stated that "We do not think of these as terrorist actions"."

Cuban American National Foundation (CANF), not National Front, and I don't think it's ever been classified by anyone as a "terrorist organisation"...or not?

The ABC story was referring to FARC when it said, "The rebel group has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department."" There was no mention of CANF being a "terrorist"organization".

It has been alleged that CANF is connected to terrorist acts against Cuban businesses, government and ordinary citizens. Luis Posada Carriles admitted in a 1998 New York Times interview that he received financial backing from CANF for a 1997 bombing campaign in Cuba.[1] CANF has strongly denied Posada's statement. Posada, however, describes long term relationships with CANF figures in his autobiography. Declassified CIA and FBI documents allege that Posada was one of the "engineer[s]" of the 1976 terrorist bombing of Cubana Airlines flight 455 that killed 73 passengers.[3] The administration of President George W. Bush refused to extradite Posada to Venezuela, where he is wanted for this crime.

The Cuban Ministry of the Interior claimed [4] that the three September 4, 1997 bomb attacks against three hotels in Havana, which killed one person [5], were planned and controlled by CANF. CANF has denied the allegations. [6] However, a former board member of the group has stated that several of its leaders planned attacks in Cuba during the 1990s. [7]. In 1997, the CANF published a statement supporting un-conditionally all terrorist attacks against Cuba; the CANF chairman at the time stated that "We do not think of these as terrorist actions".[8]

In fact, a month earlier, on June 22, 2006, Jose Antonio Llama, a former CANF director, revealed publicly what everyone knew for a long time: the CANF is a terrorist organization. Llama acknowledged that he, along with members of the organization´s hierarchy, had set up a paramilitary group to carry out attacks on Cuba

Ah,,, the old days when posters cut and paste with edits,, and of course no links. Posters and could then claim their ignorance was shared by others but who were these others?

I just love PBH,, no where else are there so many people who seem thrilled to make ignorant statements for the whole world to view.

It is not because an organisation is not classified as terrorist by USA that it is not terrorist.

Do not forget that the first terrorism in the world is the state terrorism (USA, Colombia and others).

(From 27 April 2008) La Prensa - Police have few leads in kidnapping . Police have few leads in the April 3 kidnapping of Cuban-American businessman Cecilio Padrón, who was kidnapped near the Zeus Tower in Costa del Este. They have arrested three officers in connection with the case. The officers have admitted they accepted $500 each to "scare" Padrón, but denied knowing anything about a kidnapping. Dirección de Investigación Judicial (DIJ) Director José Ayú Prado said that authorities have heard a number of rumors about the case. One of those rumors is that the Colombian-based FARC is involved, but there is no concrete evidence linking it to the case. "We can't rule out any possibilities in this case," Prado said. Complicating matters is that neither police nor Padrón's family has received any ransom demands or information regarding the victim's location.

Whether this guy's activities are terrorist or not, I ignore that not being an expert or even an amateur on the subject, kidnappings are still a big no no. Even if the victims are not saints or are also criminal.
