Fancy a few songs on the beach (El Rodadero)?

During the day, El Rodadero beach looks like this:

Then, the sun sets...

The dogs then begin to find a place to sleep (yes, on the beach)...

But it's from 9:00/10:00 onward that the Grupos Vallenatos offer their services.

It's cost you around 100K pesos for one hour to hire such a group which will then play exclusively for you and your friends.

A cheaper alternative is to pay for a seat (a few thousand pesos) in one of the non-private groups organized on the beach:

Most groups consist of 5 persons:

From left to right: The guacharaca player, the singer, the caja player, the conga player, the accordion player.

These groups only play vallenatos, but they tend to play the faster rhythm (called "puya").

Note: There are four rhythms in vallenato: Paseo, Merengue, Puya and Son. In a "true" vallenato group, the caja is not used.

Nice post....

All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self evident.
