expired visa

Does anyone know what would happen if you were caught with an expired visa? say you had been in Colombia for a number of months with an expired visa?

You will have to go to DAS to fix the problem. Filling out some paper, of course pay money, but you will be allowed to leave until you have taken care of that. No deportation in Colombia.

According to inmigration law, you would be requested to go to the DAS and be questioned about the motives to extend your time in Colombia without authorization. Then , you have to pay a fine.

The thing that can happen in the future, is when you are going to renew the visa, you could get it denied because you were illegal in Colombia.

Of course, it depends of the circunstances
