Now, I didn't say I would rent one for that amount. I suspect many of you are paying for these apartments and don't even know it. Most governmental agencies from around he world are renting for their governmental employees. (ie. foreign embassies.) Others are rented by large corporations.

This reminder if you are planning to purchase an apartment in one of the high income bracket areas and plan to rent it to government employees. The U.S. Embassy will not permit an employee renting an apartment below the third floor in Bogotá. That is the general rule but may allow for exceptions. I suspect other embassies have a similar rule.

Humm? we have lived in the north end( Los Rosalas NE of 7th)) for a few years and have never seen a $10.000 USD ($22.000.000 COP) a month rental. It would have been helpful if Fernando21 had given the barrio where the apartmento is located. Also for a nice place that $1.000 USD is not out of line-in fact in some areas could be a good price. North Bogotá takes in a lot of territory and has many upscale area like Santa Barbara, Santa Anna, Chico one or two. In our area most seem to be between 2 and 2.500.000 a month for a three bedroom, about 150/170 m2, and all the amenities one would expect in this area and price range. The wife has a friend from the college they attended, who has a 250 m2 for rent for 6.000.000 but no takers. This is an upscale area and we are not too far from the US Ambassador's residence and embassy's of Chile, Spain, Italy, Germany and some others are also in this area.

Not saying there are not places that rent for $10.000 a month USD but they must be few and far between.

That area is very handy to the Trans-Milenio, Estacion 127 or Pepe Sierra, so if you need to get about quickly and at a reasonable price it would be very helpful. Lots of shopping in that area
