Just noticed on the El Tiempo website that the exchange when to $2.298,85 today. It's been hovering just above 2300 for quite a while and now just went below it.

utopiacowboy says on Sep 2, 2005, 11:46: Everyone scoffed when I said that it was more likely that the COP would be worth 1900 to the dollar than 2900 to the dollar. I still think the dollar is headed down. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Dan says on Sep 2, 2005, 11:57: Yeah I remember when you said that, and many others kept thinking that it'll go up by the end of the year. Look at where it's headed now. HA! God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

tomtom33 says on Sep 2, 2005, 11:59: I, for one, have no idea where it is going. And I really rather doubt that anyone else does, either.

anclaisa says on Sep 2, 2005, 12:08: exchange rate You have to know what's happening in the country in order to know what the tendency is. Bavaria (largest beer producer in Colombia and much of latinamerica), was recently purchased by SABMiller. It is expected that the money it was sold for, will enter the country by october. This being said, there will be abundant US dollars and therefore the price will tend to go down. Until then, it will remain steady as it has been since the start of the year. Now keep in mind that the official rate (Tasa Representativa del Mercado - TRM) is just used for official import/export activities, including wir transfers. If you are travelling into or out of Colombia, you can get better deals at hotels (front desk) or exchange houses (casas de cambio). And the difference may be up to 100 pesos per dollar, so it all depends on what you will be doing...

BAQ says on Sep 2, 2005, 16:34: SCOFF SCOFF, it will be at 4000 pesos per dollar by Christmas - OK, I'll go take some more drugs now so I can stay in this hallucination. Oh well, the bright side, my house is now worth about 18K more than it was a year ago when I purchased it. Semper Fidelis ! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Dan says on Sep 2, 2005, 16:45: and then makes any house that I would like to buy, more expensive to buy. God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

BAQ says on Sep 2, 2005, 18:34: Yea, will cost more Dan you are correct, the BIG TICKET items, homes, apartments, cars, motorcycles ect will cost more. You don;t feel it that bad for food, clothing ect. Example** 150 million peso home will now cost you about 8000 U.S. dollars more and that is based on the exchange rate in May of 2004 and today's rate. Semper Fidelis ! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Dan says on Sep 2, 2005, 18:40: and that's why everything I'm looking at is in the 65-85 million peso range. I got a lot of time before I retire and afford something. So hopefully it'll change to more favorable conditions when I am ready to buy. God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
