She did a 180 from saying he did all the right things to saying he is using radical, extremist language and being hateful to the pobre muchachos.

She said that one because she's a politician and two because she is concerned about the treatment of the remaining innocent people being mistreated by these terrorists.

Peter you obviously know very little about Mandela who has until this day not denounced violence. His brave new South Africa is now the most violent place on Earth with 85 Murders and 113 rapes per day.

Ingrid Betancourt understands that she can get more with honey than with vinegar. There are still 700 hostages, I believe... and Ingrid's words can make the difference if the FARC decided to seek revenge against her or worsen the treatment of the remaining hostages.

All in all, Ingrid, a presidntial candidate herself, suffered 6 years in gruesome captivity.

While I applaud President Uribe for his excellent presidency, I felt that he was slightly threatened by Ingrid and tried hard to look too presidential as he made Ingrid look nothing more than an ordinary hostage released.

I liked what INgrid's husband did on the CNN documentary. It was the right thing to do.

However, I want to caution Ingrid from coming on too strong either in her presidential ambitions (as unjustly treated as she has been by the FARC), or in her attcaks on President Uribe. Yes, she should use her extended 15 minutes of extraordinary fame to bond more with the Colombian voters and make herself likeable and memborable... but she should show much restraint in promoting herself as the next president let alone attacking a president that saved her since it is not campaign time yet... and it may be constued as being ungrateful.

Here's the quote:

"Uribe, and not only Uribe but all of Colombia, should also correct some things," she said. "We have reached the point where we must change the radical, extremist vocabulary of hate, of very strong words that intimately wound the human being."

This is an ATTACK on Uribe. Come on...It is a suggestion for everyone, not just Uribe. She thinks that the language used towards the FARC is at times extremist and hateful, so what? This must mean she is ungrateful for Uribe's efforts. Oh wait, the same article suggests that she approves of Uribe's presidency and says that he should be allowed to run again. Damn, I am getting confused here. I do not see how her disapproval of the language used to describe the FARC somehow equals a 180 degree turn from her approval of Uribe's efforts. Sorry. In addition, she also expressed concern for the lives of the members of the FARC that fell for the Colombian military's brilliant trick. Does that make her a fan of the FARC? I think not.

Great points, Mitch.

I would bet that at some point there will be negotiations. It does no good to use terminology like "the axis of evil" (didn't we just take the Koreans off that list?) if you expect to pursue any other options with an opposition other than the use of force. That does not mean you need to be affectionate, either. Nor does it mean that you cannot use force. But I do not want to put words in her mouth.

I am not surprised about anything she has said and as a matter of fact I only expect more talk and criticism towards our president. It only took her hours of being released to go back to politician mode. Blah!!!
