Every where it`s alway`s the same song!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`m new here, i`m from Germany and i lived 12 years in colombia, so that`s why i`m alway`s here when i switch on my p.c , i just want to ask something,every body in this site is Colombian otherwise is the son of Colombians , right? why we speak english / no entiendo porque los hijos de los imigrantes son casi siempre todos asi, uno no es de donde nacio, uno es de donde es su raza yo daria de todo por ser latino y me parece que aqui un monton de gente trata de esconderlo, a parte algun gringo que me parese ya bien raro que caigan aqui siempre, si no es por preguntar alguna cosa que necesitan saber...y por de mas saben solo critcar, hablar mal de un pais que a la final ni han visto , hasi pasa tambien aca, la misma vaina,muchos dicen que los cringos o nosotros europeos somos razistas, yo estoy convencido que no es asi a parte algun quebon claramente porque esos no faltan nunca,son siempre los hijos de los imigrantes que rompen las pelotas, bueno no todos claramente, pero leyendo los post no veo que criticas por todo lado,vivi 3 años en asia,tambien en USA y como dije primero 12 en medellin"y te cuento que nada como vivir en Colombia para poder APRENDER VERDADERAMENTE a goder y APRECIAR la vida y esta es mi humilde opiñon de una persona que ha vivido en distintas partes del mundo, por esos lados no se dice;
GROW UP !!!!!!!

Answer This site was started and is run by a fellow from Belgium who was teaching English in Colombia when he began the site - would you rather that French be the primary language? Peut-etre c'est possible.

No somos todos necessariamente Colombianos, o con herencia Colombiana. Hay mucha gente aqui que son casados con alguien de Colombia o tienen interes en el pais. Habras visto tambien que hay el foro "Solo en Espanol".

Not so I'm neither Colombian or a son of a Colombian or even speak proper or passable Espanyol ~ not yet anyway. I, like some others who check into this site from time to time, are planning trips to Colombia, me for the first time. I cruise through the postings checking for useful tips that I can copy and paste to a file I'm keeping for my trip. I also like to get some inside feelings on Colombia from the the posters here. I haven't tuned up my Espanyol yet to the point of being able to slide into the language entirely although I have inquired about lodgings in Espanyol online from suggestions on places to stay I've picked up here. This forum is helpful and for that I say to all, muchas gracias.
I believe there is a section of this forum site that is strictly Espanyol.
With all due respect Hanz, did you start out speaking perfect Espanyol?
Hasta

Also Whenever I see a posting in Espanyol, I try to decipher it to help me get a grasp of everyday lingo and language gestures posters on here use. However, your's was a little long and I got lost but I think I got the general drift in the first sentence or two.

Hanz Z If you had given that long diatribe/sermon in German I would have understood it. My Spanish is, to say the least, grim.

I got the gist, but I can only agree to some of it much to general.

Since you also speak, and obviously write good English, in defference to those of us here,(the majority) please write in English and also translate to Spanish, or post in ‘solo espanol'. Gracias, danke, thank you, merci, tak. sawi sawi.

Couple of Suggestions... First off: For someone who lived in Colombia for 12 years your spelling is sh*t!......
Second: The whole idea of a forum is that people can express their opinions on a certain theme/topic, so all this b*tching you are doing is really quite lame and I feel that it is you who has to grow up.
Third: I see that your time out of Germany has not helped your typical German sense of humor. (I will try to get that frase translated to german for you as I don't think 'sense of humor' exists in Germany and that is why you seem to be so an*l about everything).
Fourth: Please post the comments written in Spanish in the 'Solo en Español' section next time.

Apart from that, welcome to PBH.

woah! hans whew...that's pretty tough measure

i came to colombia many many years ago, and now, married to a paisa, two children born in colombia and having lived there a long time, i couldn't/wouldn't change a minute. since day one, the mannerism of the colombian people is what 'seduced' me. kept me there, made me want to stay there...made me fall in love.

had you been on the welcoming committee--i regret to say--i wouldn't have stayed the night.

if you're gonna be down on folks because they're not a certain way, specially since it's 'in defense' of colombians...at very least, act like the colombians do...nice.

Maybe you should just post in German next time. I like adrimm's suggestion that we switch to French - a beautiful language!

Besides, Hanz, most of us are bored high school kids with nothing else to do. Give us a break.

Dolfi says on Apr 4, 2005, 05:10:

I am german too and speak acceptable spanish. As tis website is frequented by people from different countries the most natural thing is to communicate in english, because english ist the most likely spoken second language these days, asl it used to be french 200 years ago.

What bothers me much more is the growing use of english expressions in everyday german. Siemens had a slogan some time ago: "The Force of Innovation". In Spain thy used the phrase "La Fuerza de la Inovación", and guess what the used in Germany? Not "Die Kraft der Innovation", but "The Force of Innovation" as if Germany was the USA. This is what mekas me feel angry, not speaking english with foreigners. I once had a client from Japan, guess how we communicated with each other? In english of course.

As far as german humor is concerned, I beg not to generalize. people sense of humor is quite diffferent. I am unable to find anything funny in american comedies, most of them are just superficial and boring. I dont´like the tasteless jokes that are told frequently in Latinamerica.

dwmte says on Apr 4, 2005, 06:08:

so, dolfi... i guess i failed to grasp your point.

are you saying you don't like the humor of americans and latinos? that's really funny.

i don't mean to be offish, but i truly don't get your point, nor that of hans, above. hans doesn't want to speak english, so he speaks spanish; you don't like speaking english, but you post in english.

i'm having trouble following either of you. neither comments favorably about colombia...that's what the site is basically about...so what, once again, is the point?

*Every where it`s alway`s the same song!!!!!!!!!!!!* Here are a few English songs for you hanz

We sing them at England v Germany football matches

"two world wars and one world cup"

and

"five one, we beat 'the hun' five one" (Haven't sung this to ze Germans yet - can't wait)

and with arms outstretched to the side we give the Dambusters theme a damn good go. (If Colombia/U.S. play Germany in the WC I suggest any fans over there try this one)

Probably as tasteless to a German as a Latin American joke, but hey, it's all good fun for an Englishman - we love tasteless jokes - probably why I find that modefoque Elmo so funny.

don`t be soo fast to judge! Yo no soy colombiana.

dwmte says on Apr 5, 2005, 11:37:

there's a gigantic difference.... between your post and hans' his was rude and confrontational...has nothing to do with argullo de rasa...it has to do with general courtesy. your post, on the contrary was kind and considerate, without attack. there's the difference.

on this site, i'm pretty sure the posters could care less where you're from...timbuctu, hawaii, moscow or cali...it's all the same. they post here because they've had experiences in colombia some favorable, some not so. they want to go to colombia and have a zillion questions to ask, etc. it's an open forum. hans doesn't run it.

also, if one wants to post in espanol, there's a place for those posts. on the 'friendly talkzone' it's basically english. that way all can hopefully understand the post. hell, i've been married to a paisa for nearly 16 years, and i still have trouble reading spanish. i might point out that your post was much, much easier to read than hans. possibly because he was trying to get rid of too much vitriol at the same time. he needs to calm down and share his thoughts as a friend, not as an enemy.

Which is why I love America so!

Although in fairness, if it weren't for the madness of King George you would still be our largest colony! ;-)

don`t understand you dwmate! dwmate, I don`t really understand why you`re saying that my post was more considarate than Hanz`s. I actually wrote this againt Hanz and the reason I wrote it in spanish was just to make a point to Hanz and that`s that even though most of us write in English on this site (so that everybody can understand us) it doesn`t mean that we don`t speak spanish and that was what I was trying to show him. So I don`t really understand your accusation.
