I agree...over the years it has been soooo comercialized. It used to be you had to practice for a very long time before you could "earn" a black belt (much longer). They do not instill much of the philosophies, of which you Can live by. I was around it all my life - my father was an instructor and a self defense instructor when I was a child (taught me - mostly Judo & Jujitsu) and continues until today and both my brothers practiced. It is an Art really.

Yes...they even have you learn Anatomy (if taught the old way) - because of pressure points - that you just touch or hit and disable the opponent. There is one move - if you just touch the hand and flip it a certain way it brings the opponent to the ground on their knees and cannot fight back...they have no choice, jeje

Jiu Jitsu does seem very interesting. Like you, if I had more time, I'd like to study it some. I spent many years studying Wing Chun and Choi Li Fut from an old Chinese guy. I still spar occasionally, but just don't have the time to really train. I had done "Americanized" Tae Kwon Do in high school, but after studying Chinese kung fu for a while, I realized what a joke American TKD is. Regardless, those chicks are still hot ;p
