Why do you think that the government and the main newspapers choose this moment to speak about farc-politica? TWO MONTHS after the death of reyes, they have found in his computer(s) messages of Piedad Cordoba who should preside a transition government pro-FARC.
Jajaja ...
Colombia estas definitivamente podrida, but it is not a surprise.
Like he said, I believe that they should do an extension to the "Ley de Justicia y Paz", to incude politics, businessman, managers, multinationals if they want to clean up the country and get started from "0" again.
For the rest, he is just telling what everybody knows. AUC had the total control of all aspects of entire regions of the country, with the help of people, politics, army, etc.
I also believe that many are trying to make the AUC bosses do not tell everything.
And now we are waiting for the other half of the coin to be revealed... I'd say that it is not as big, but Piedad Cordoba is surely not coming out clean.
"I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present."
Hate campaigns, death threats, almost all of the population against a senator, though socialist, has openly professed her opposition to the Farc's violent and terrorist tactics, has worked for the release of hostages, and fights for a more equal society.
I remember the first day of Mancuso's "confession" with the Fiscalia, his supporters standing outside, wearing "Big Heart for Mancuso" T-shirts. This man is personally responsible for the death, torture. disappearance of thousands of men, women and children (usually from the most disadvantaged sectors). He has corrupted the political and health systems, protected, collaborated with and exercised narcotrafficking, extorted businesses and individuals, and is the head of one of the world's most bloodiest illegal groups.
Yet despite all this, in many Colombians' eyes, he is given a grudging respect for doing what supposedly "had to be done", even if it was dirty.
Truly f-ed up.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Mahatma Gandhi
Of course it is disgusting... but, I really cannot imagine anything else than a wider Ley de Justicia y Paz to start all over from scratch again. It is sad, but...
Piedad Cordoba is a stupid, she does not help Colombia, she does not help the hostages, but that's just my idea (well, not only mine) and can be disputed of course.
On the other end, Colombia is missing a real left, a real opposition, but that's another story.
"I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present."
Mancuso
I believe that they should do an extension to the "Ley de Justicia y Paz", to incude politics, businessman, managers, PBHers :-), multinationals
But, I'm going to start making some assumptions here.... Which means I might actually end up making an ass out of myself ..........Thu 04 17, 2008 11:34 am

buggy: Believe it or not, the whole "transitional government" thing isn't that new...I remember reading about it one year ago, at least. Although nobody in particular was mentioned. Should look that up sometime.
Smoke curtains can also contain grains (or even fields) of truth, even if they can also be made up of exaggerations and distortions, if not outright lies.
I believe Córdoba's not being treated fairly or even decently, to say the least, but that doesn't mean that everything should be dismissed.
As for Mancuso...I don't know what's worse: if he's telling all of the truth, only a part of it, a bunch of lies...or if his goal is to taint as much people as possible in order to force a full pardon (if everyone is guilty, nobody is guilty).
