I'm currently taking a "Diplomado" in Eafit called Fundamentals of English Language Teaching. In the course we are working with the TKT and it seems pretty easy. As far as I know if you don't have a BA in English or what they call a Licenciatura it will be hard to get a job at a University like Eafit or UdeA, but you could work at a learning institute like Universal Language, American Headway etc. Also if you know both Spanish and English you can even teach at a private High School like one of my classmates.

This is the info on the TKT course http://www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/teaching-awards/tkt.html but becuase it could be an independant website i was a little unsure of how accurate the info is and if this is a reccommended Cetificate. The course is $1.500.000 for 100 hours and exams

This is expensive for a foundation course and as that is what cambridge is advertising it as....why not just do the CELTA which is internationally recognised. Only problem is that I don't know if you can do it in Medellin. The British Council run the CELTA in Bogota.

TKT is a simple test for those who have at least some teaching backround and doesnt need to be taught in a course lasting 100hrs. you can just simply buy a book, self-study for a weekend and you'll be good to go.

the last time i checked there is no CELTA in medellin and you have to do it in bogota. i agree with borat, take CELTA as it will prepare you for teaching better than TKT. remember, TKT is just a test that measures your knowledge about teaching, it doesnt say that you CAN actually teach. Good luck!

Coffee Beaner... and other guys... one advice to you all... avoid American Headway institute... it is a bunch of bloody liars and motherfuckers...

to PAUL = At UNI you could work even with TEFL course but the main issue is working visa for them. If you havent got that, search only for strong school that does papers for visa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never rely on small company, never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
