PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Hi moderators, Desidera, Tinto and whoever else. How about putting a section for EMPLOYMENT in Colombia? For Job seekers that are going to Colombia or already in Colombia and employers wanting to advertise their help wanted??

Someone told me about $400 a month..Just wondering...I'm referring to teaching children in school...not really business folks... Teaching preteens the things they need to know! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Miguel_Clavo says on Apr 8, 2007, 16:43: I know from my US point of view, it would be helpful in locating computer and IT-type savvy people in Cartagena...not to say there is no talent to be found there locally, but it makes is alot easier to search via the net....less time consuming to find leads for longterm employees....i vote for it! utopiacowboy says on Apr 8, 2007, 22:17: Your sister-in-law sold the apartment out from under her sister? At the risk of sounding like a PBH fool, that sounds like a very un-Colombian thing to do. My sister-in-law lives in my wife's apartment and I doubt that she'd ever sell it out from under her. Miguel_Clavo says on Apr 9, 2007, 16:43: I hope it works out with you, Mario. On my next trip i need to start off in Bogota to meet with some military people there. Probably be about a week at the most. If you are there, i will treat you and your family to dinner at Carbon de Palo on Ave 19...i just love that place, the music, food, ambience....keep us informed about if they let you go.... mecca says on Apr 10, 2007, 17:49: But if you want/need to stay longer file your marriage with the notary there in colombia. Take a trip to bogota and you'll get a marriage visa for a year. I'm no expert, though i've a very good friend that just went through this about a year ago. He did not have to leave the country and got the marriage visa in bogota in a 2 day trip. I think he has to renew every year??? THey did it without an atty. I was impressed

But sadly, I found it too difficult to make a living in the photography field. las cosas caen por su propio peso 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

griffbos says on Apr 11, 2007, 06:57: Strobers I have to disagree with you. There are many cases here in the US alone where those with out a degree in education teach, one just has to look at those who teach in Hospital Doctors, and thos who teach in Nursing programs, one has to look at those who teach IT course. I would also argue that a degree in education doesn't mean one can teach.

Hopefully the time you got left will go quickly. About six months or so you say? I haven't really followed your CR-1 progress in the visa section, why is it taking so long for you? las cosas caen por su propio peso 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

rocinante says on Apr 12, 2007, 19:27: whaaaaaaaaaaahapen? Mario - I thought your wife was in the US? What happened? Also do what I did - offer your boss work at home, don't tell them that it's Colombia, Tell them you want a change of scenery near the mountains or make up some crap. Keep a US address in a state far away and tell him you'll come in on demand. Do direct deposit, get VOIP with a phone number in your "new city" and because your company is small they will never run a check to see the inbound IP's, regardless of the version of VPN - so they will not know you are in Colombia. Also, the deal maker is cut your salary in half in order to gain the "telecommuting" priveleges. Companies love getting six figure, proven workers fo 50K and 50K in Colombia is sweeeeet even if the peso hits 1000. "World economic indicators point to a democrat winning 2008. honey says on Apr 13, 2007, 01:07: MARIO...Boooooo... I had my fingers crossed for you all along. I'm just about to start my own "Visa Journey" and I've had many a fantasy on how I could wait it out in Cali while pulling a U.S. salary. I was all set to live vicariously through you! It's really too bad, all along I thought that since it was a temporary situation you were requesting it would be granted.
