When I was last in Colombia I used to have with my breakfast something called embuelto (I'm not 100 % with the spelling or the name). I'm guessing it was of the banana family, but I don't know.
Anyone help me out?

mrgizmo says on May 21, 2007, 13:31: ENBUELTO DE MAZORCA? It's possible that what you had were embueltos de mazorca (corn wrap) it's simply dough made from corn, butter, raisins, and wrapped in the corn husks and boiled, hmmmmm, they're are very good. If you're presently in the U.S. it's very similar to Mexican sweet tamales. Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Ekdog says on May 21, 2007, 14:14: Envuelto (written with a "v")is the past participle of the verb "envolver," which means "to wrap." I've never tried Colombian food (alas), so I can't help you any more than that.

Sr Tertius says on May 21, 2007, 15:48: It's written with a "v" as Ekdog says and its most likely "de mazorca", which is what mrgizmo says. I used to hate them as a kid, but then I acquired the taste. "When the finger points to the moon, the fool looks at the finger" (Chinese proverb) 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
