Elmo's Threat

Yes your read it well Threat.

I just needed to change just one letter to combine maybe two threads in one.

What is a truly Colombian?

There is not a definition perset of a truly Colombian, wether he/she has leave the country or not. You could said my cousin is not a truly paisa because she does not like Frijoles, or if any other paisa dislikes arepas. Not that eating arepas and frijoles makes you a better Paisa either. We can only joke by saing erer un Colombiano Chiviado, but since we are so proud of been colombian, we might get offended. :-)

I can only imagine a couple of "colombians kids" arguing in kinder garden or later about which "colombian parent" did better in teaching them colombian "culture". :-)

The term to use would be a better colombian, that said, here is my "granito de arena"

A better colombian is that one who loves Colombia, sees how wonderful is Colombia, is proud of been born here. A better colombian (human) is that who even if he/she does not help colombians at least he/she does not make his/her life harder.

A better Colombian abroad, well that is a little be harder, there are many ways to turn on a light.

Single Colombians
A marriage
Colombian with colombian

A mariage
Colombian with diferent nationality same language
A mariage
Colombian with diferent nationality different language

A mariage
Colombian with diferent nationality different language and religion
A mariage
Colombian with diferent nationality same language and religion

A colombian taken at a very youn age
A colombian residing abroad after grown up

A colombian from the two above coming back to live in Colombia

Colombians raised abroad by colombian parents
Colombians raised abroad by a mixed nationalities.

Now about the title of this thread, to compare is not wise but Elmo is a good example to me of a true Colombian abroad.

Most of us know his upbrining I don´t need to elaborate but he seems to love Colombian women but colombian women don´t like his black injun ass (his words), but yet he married a Paisa.
That might no make him a better Colombian, in my eyes it does, because it is not a better colombian that who is overly regionalist. Elmo a guajiro married a Paisa.

Sorry Elmo to take you as example, but to me you are more colombian that many here.

About Elmos threat and not of Elmo but others hypocrisy
Now a little history on PBH many took a break from PBH and came back even after some tried different waters. In a way many left because they were tired of Elmos´s posts, I can´t call this people less colombians, because I am not one to judge. and then again it would be better human or person or not. cada quien puede hacer de su trasero un circo.

Funny thing it is that it was Elmo´s post that make same people comeback home to PBH.

Elmo es regionalista pero no tan extremista
Elmo not pelea en cuanto politica y si lo hace seguro seria sin el extremismo de muchos y el deseo de ser Rambo
Elmo also threatened to leave us, I am glad he is still around.

Elmo better Colombian that many.

That's right! Elmo is a lil mo' colombian than the duck.
I think it would be fitting to have on pbh, an "ELMODEFOQUE ROAST"... jja

NO MAS........ MARINERO YERRI'S... ;-(

OK ' So I am confused. Is Elmo Married? When I started PBH he was on his way for a break and sounded single and badly treated by a crazed woman (is this the Paisa you speak of?) or did he just get ...yet married again?

Desideria (Moderator) says on Apr 26, 18:25:

I dunno, CatGirl. Sometimes I think that Elmo is just a figment of somebody's imagination and does not really exist. Then we have these dudes like Miguel and others whos swear that they have partied together with him.....

I think he's still married to his Paisa wife,,,I think they got back together because he can't live without her (that she is treating him badly is probably just BS, his rather entertaining way to make himself look innocent of any wrongdoings. Crazed...oh dear, the impression I have is that she is the only level-headed one in that family.

Thanks Desi, that helped much. Now I know why it is soooo confusing ;)

MaFe says on Apr 26, 19:44:

I think a Colombian is Colombian because of their heart....
that's it...
People trying to "meausre how much Colombian" a person is, or stating that if you left Colombia to live somewhere else, etc, is just ridiculous.

No one has the right to judge who is more Colombian...no such thing.
Even Colombians living in colombia are different and vary.

jajaja...as usual des is right. i imagine aa fair amount of elmo's persona here is crap - especially his (former) profession ;) - but it's pretty plain that he'd be no day at the beach to be married to. much like a pirate i know.....

Before you throw me out, make sure I pay my bar tab

kat1 (Moderator) says on Apr 27, 02:53:

Elmo es mas gringo que el Tio Sam :P

Desideria (Moderator) says on Apr 27, 04:31:

I'm glad that you said that, kat. I've said it a couple of times, but coming from you it has more credibility.

aztec says on Apr 27, 07:23:

I suspect Elmo is difficult to live with. Any woman who manages a long relationship with him must of necessity be strong willed.

This is not to say that many men are not difficult but in most cases men come to terms with the responsibilities of marriage. It just appears to have been harder for Elmo.

webmanco says on Apr 27, 07:25:

It took a colombian to do it, but I believe it was first a Puerto Rican.

But, I'm going to start making some assumptions here.... Which means I might actually end up making an ass out of myself ..........Thu 04 17, 2008 11:34 am

Yes, Elmo is real,
real in my soul.
(Yes, Elmo is) real,
for He has washed and made me whole.

His love for me,

(Yes, Elmo is) real, for I can feel Him in my soul.
