Yup looks like it. Moderators here are a tad bit overzealous...

They said I couldn't play football I was too small / They say I couldn't play basketball I wasn't tall / They say I couldn't play baseball at all / And now everyday of my life I ball.

Matter of fact, they should LOCK threads versus deleting them all together. Along with LOCKING a thread they could point to what was violated in the forum rules. TRANSPARENCY would be appreciated by everyone here...

Kat1 can you post the MOD user names? I'd like to send them a Private Message. I feel like I add value to this board, but I feel that the moderation of topics done here is detracting from the experience. I'd like to voice my opinion directly to them so they know that they are potentially driving me along with others like myself away to other boards.

Rubito....this time I agree with some stuff you said, not how you just attacked before!

I really enjoy being part Colombian, but I also enjoy my mother's culture, and living in America.
I wont go back because I was raised here. I wasn't allowed to go back to Colombia until I was 18!

I don't sorround myself with only Colombians, it's sad to say but I barely have any Colombian friends because I don't see eye to eye with them, and I never grew up with any Colombians.
I have friends from all races, sizes, ages, e.t.c., I like variety, and I feel that's how people learn and become better individuals.

I only have a problem when people deny who they are. I don't care if people are pro whatever, I just don't like people denying their roots...

Despite your finding it silly, some of us really want to go back but are hindered by the realities of life. I would gladly get up and move to Colombia except for the fact that I have two kids here that need their dad.

Of course, I could put my needs first and go anyway. My only enforceable legal responsibility is to pay child support. However, I would have to be a real piece of garbage to move to another country and relegate my relationship with my kids to phone calls and email. Their wellbeing is more important than my wishes at this stage so I gladly make the sacrifice knowing that I will eventually be able to go home.

Consequently, I am more or less stuck here so I must make the best of the situation by making and saving as much money as possible while the kids grow up. In the meantime, I go to Colombia around five or six times a year and spend as much time as I can there.

I think that part of that balance is that both partners have to contribute something. If they both work, then they are both doing their part and a getting a maid is in order. However, if the wife chooses to say at home, then her part of her contribution should be cleaning and cooking. That's not to say that the husband doesn't have to do anything around the house just because he works. When kids are involved the equation changes.

Rubito, lol, one of the greatest proud statements ever!

It's true, who really cares where anyone's from? I'm a hypocrite I guess, I identify with certain things (like Manchester United and English football, etc... the former of which I am currently extremely proud of :)) but let's face it, what makes YOU unique, interesting, etc... isn't where you're from, it's you as an individual, your achievements and accomplishments, etc...!

Being proud of being Colombian because there are some good looking women in Medellin, for example, is a bit odd, especially if those looks don't translate to you as an individual, or if you are a man, it isn't your own achievement. Or for the coffee, why should you be proud unless you actually MAKE that coffee? Be proud of what you do, not where you come from.

Oh well, when United beat Chelsea on Saturday then Barcelona on Tuesday I'll keep that in mind, but I'll be equally proud and happy for an accomplishment that has nothing to do with me ;) I love hypocrisy!

I always listen to English music, and T.V. I am starting to listen Spanish music only in the last few years.
I have lived here in California more than half of my life, so I guess I am a bit different.

This is your opinion, and not true for me. I was born in colombia, raised out of Colombia. My older cousin who is 30, married, never has left Colombia can't make beans, arepas, or empandas, she barely cooks. She buys everything already made.
I raised in the states; make my paisa frijoles, make arepas and empandas from scratch! Why? Because my mother was a proud Colombian who preserved her culture, and passed it on to her children, while making sure I assimilated to my host country...
I was raised with all of my mother's values and believe in them, and so does my 19 year old sister!

It wasn't a couple of years ago, it wasn't even a year ago. I can't believe some people up here just say "oh well, stop posting then" or "big deal, your problem you should take security measures". This is real and it can happen to anybody and it doesn't mean she wasn't taking security measures or doing anything to deserve it. The owner of the other blog had evidence that he collected overtime that he shared with the owner of this site at one point in time.

My account was hacked, it wasn't my imagination, neither was the grief I had to deal with.

Colombiche comments on Freedom of Expresion in Colombia and at PBH

Let's stop being cryptic now. I am trying to avoid this topic but fuck it, I am going public with this. Back at cblog my account was hacked into, somebody distributed pm's that violated my privacy and caused me months of grief in my personal life (are you happy now?????). I received threats to my life and person for several months. I am not making this up, I have several witnesses that can speak up right now because they saw the entire situation unfold before their eyes. I am not a troll, I am a real person and some people here know me and can attest to that. The guilty party is OFFICIALLY getting away with it (clap clap clap) I have warned Peter and Desi that the guilty party walks among us, but so far all I hear is my own echo. Peter, we need more security and control, URGENTLY. I would hate for this to happen to another one of the ladies here at PBH, to have to go through this. I tried really hard to keep this low key but I can't anymore... I just can't deal with it, I can't.

Again please show us where she posted a few days ago here...because simple search on her comments and profile shows other wise!!!

Mafe it doesn't matter if you cook better bandeja paisa that you Colombian cousin or know more Colombian artist than him, but your way of thinking is very different from them , even ME who grew up in Colombia and came to live abroad after I married have change a bit.

I listen to my family who they all are still in Colombia apart from one sister and i see the different how much i change my way of thinking.

the funny thing is I now know more about Colombia and are a bit more patriotic (not - overly) than my family :)))) I have to keep telling them and some people that not everything outside Colombia is rosy and that they should appreciated more our Country
========================================

Kat, you should clearly learn to pay more attention when you read.
I never said I cooked a bandeja paisa better, I clearly stated that my girl cousin, who is older than I am, who is 100% Colombia, never left Colombia can't even cook frijoles.

Point is, you choose to think differently.
I have a mother who takes 100% pride in being Colombian, and have passed that on to her children. My mother still thinks like a Colombiana...

So you think all Colombians living in Colombia think alike?
I think not!
Everyone is different, doesn't matter if you were born some place raised another.
People are not the same, and even in their own countries aren't the same.

I have met women in Colombia that are brilliant and have great careers, I have met women in COlombia that don't think school is worth their time.
I have met Colombianas in Colombia who refuse to cook and clean, and again women in Colombia that do all of that...

They all vary...not one Colombiana is alike!
Why generalize????

People are different...period.

I know many Latinos/Colombians over seas that are very Colombian...

Gracias SL, I don't insist..I am simply stating my personal experience, and the people I have met.
I grew up with two cultures.
I am not just promoting Colombia.
I was raised with two different cultures in the US and my mother managed to have us with all 3 cultures...what is wrong with that?

I have stated many times, to each his own, but i 100% thank my mother for preserving 3 cultures for me!
I grew up in the states where it is a melting pot, but many people do preserve their roots AND assimilate to their host country.
Nothing wrong with that.

I have also stated how everyone learns from different cultures.
My mother always emphasized that.

I just don't like people who deny where they are from, or have children and don't teach them their culture.
No se si me entiendes?

In some way or another the environment we are living now, the people we have met everything the experience and not being in our county 24/7 is bound to affect the way we think for good or bad.

In regards to 'colombianness'...how do you define that? I am Colombian and couldn't cook even if my life depended on it. Did not grow up eating bandeja paisa or ajiaco, as a matter of fact I hated beans and did not learn to eat them until I moved to central america, hence I only eat black beans. My parents never listened to vallenato or cumbia or salsa, I have two left feet when it comes to dancing, I don't eat meat or fried anything, I hate aguardiente and Im not a catholic. Does that mean then than someone who has never lived in Colombia and does all those things can all of a sudden be 'more' Colombian than me? Because that's just counterintuitive.
