Elevator etiquette

I know this is a ridiculous post but after almost a month of living in high rise condo in El Rodadero I gotta get it off my chest...

I thought it was a simple process....door opens people in go out people out go in.

WTF...
here its more like, people in and out ram in to each other as quick as possible. I dont care if you have a baby in your arms, your 86 years old and with a walker, or in my case a lap top that gets rammed once a week. I feel like Warren Sap is coming at me when Im try to get out.

But I guess when your an hour late for an appointment the last 8 seconds made up in the elevator really count!!

Good luck riding the transmileneo at rush hour. I actually was humbled on my last trip to Bogota and was offered a seat by an elderly gentleman; because I was holding an infant and must have looked very tired. I accepted it.

I have yet to have an attack of flatulance on the TM or in a crowded elevator.

"I like it when they push the down button to go up and the up button to go down.."

lol, yep i've seen this a lot. they seem to be trying to direct the elevator. so if it's above you you push down even if you want to go up. ha

lmao... it's really damned frustrating isn't it? Riding and operating and elevator isn't brain surgery.

Or you can just screw everyone over..... lots of elevators have an express mode that lets you override everyone else's selections and go straight to the floor you're going to, this is for the maintenance mans use . You just press "Door Close" and the button for your floor at the same time. Should work on most Otis elvators, as well as a few other models that are out there.

I will remember that stephen... Good tip.. I didnt know that. When I press the close door button it never seems to close the door any sooner than usual.

I used an elevator at the hotel I stayed in Medellin. The reason people went in so fast was the door closed very fast but the nice thing was they pushed the hold open button for us to get out. Most of the time they would come out before we went in. I hope that is the worst thing I have to deal with. Ride the subway in New York once. Colombia is a piece of cake. Getting in a hurry in Colombia is not good for the health. Ask any Colombian jajajaja Special NOTE: Be happy there is an Elevator that is working

Just taking life easy. I worked hard for it and deserve it and now doing it.

another of my favorite observations is when a bunch of kids wait five mintutes to go one floor...while my broken off butt huffs up 11 floors...

Try the subway in Moscow.... OMG.... Packed like sardines. Same with the busses there.. I have had a couple bus rides like that in Bogota but nothing compared to Moscow...

I have been on the Metro in Moscow. You're right. It was packed but try taking the train from Moscow to Volgograd. That was a trip of a life time. The toilet opens up right onto the track. Pity the person walking along the track as they usually do. I would not use the bus in Moscow again. Once a foot is in, the bus moves so you best be holding on. There two lane highway has 9 lanes of traffic

Sonny- I had the trip from Moscow to SPb several times by train. It is a nice trip. We left at about 11:00 PM and had a sleeper car. The train had a dining car and nice menu. At about 2:00 AM had a great steak dinner and drinks. I didn’t sleep much.. Was watching out the windows at all the little ramshackle villages. Outside the big cities Russia is still a 3rd world country. Was about an 8hr trip. I have had some real experiences considering I live in a little town in rural PA. Red Square on New Years Eve. Vodka & Champaign bottles covering the street. They have garbage role offs every 100’ on the main streets and Bobcats scooping the bottles into the role offs and filling them full.. A glass recyclers dream. How many Americans can say been there done that. LOL

The last time I was there was 2001. The hotel Intourest is no longer but it was cheap. You had to unplug the phone after 11 PM or the ladies of the evening start calling your room. I love the trip to Volgograd then across the Volga to Voljski. The difference from Moscow was amazing. People are caring and giving of themselves.
I then went to Nikolaev Ukraine and was treated better then any place I had ever been. It is really a shame pelple do not travel to these "3 rd world" countries and see how people actually live on so little money. This is where I found the WWII motorcyles. It was great seeing the country and it's people. They actually work for a living. Can you believe it? :)
We as Americans would not be able to survive.
The things that you can see boggle the mind with beauty from the underground Mall near Red Sq. to the Metro that seems to be 20 floors below the ground.
It was an amazing trip and will enjoy taking my wife and daughter there to see for themselves. Good to know someone that has been there and can see and hold the memory.
