Electronics, ok to bring in?

Just wondering if it's ok to bring electronics in to Colombia. I bought a car CD player for a friend of mine in Cartagena, and was just planning on putting it in my suitcase. The unit is still in the box. Will there be any problems doing that?
Seems like it'd be ok, but just double checking...

No! Hola!

Colombia even allows tomato seeds that the USA does not allow, so electronics is fine!

why not Ive taken portable Cd players to colombia, camera's, and other electronics. i dont see where there would be a problem, but you may want to call the airlines and make sure.

For added security... So the immigration officer don't get tempted to smack you with some import duty, discard the box and put the CD player in some bag, also take the instructions and cables and put them somewhere else.

exactly because for example if you buy electronics in the states and get them sent to colombia.. often they will arrive asking for 100 or 200 $ or the like and they will not give you the goods until you pay the import tax

I've done exactly that................ Bought a car stero (CD Player) and took it to Colombia for my family. Packed it in my suitcase "in origional box" and had no problems going through customs. No tax, No questions!! I've never been taxed on anything I carried into Colombia.
