El cantante vallenato Diomedes Díaz pagó una indemnización equivalente a 67.000 dólares a la familia de Doris Adriana Niño, quien apareció muerta tras una fiesta celebrada en el apartamento del artista en 1997, informó hoy su defensa legal.


El abogado Jorge Luis Castro, defensor del popular artista, dijo que el dinero fue depositado por concepto de daños morales y materiales.

Niño, que tenía 22 años, apareció muerta en mayo de 1997 en la carretera entre Bogotá y Tunja, después de participar en una fiesta en un apartamento alquilado por el artista en Bogotá en la que consumió alcohol y cocaína.

Díaz fue condenado a 12 años de prisión por el delito de homicidio, pero un juez redujo la condena a 6 años, de los cuales pagó 3 años y 7 meses hasta que recibió la libertad condicional.

El cantante es llamado "el Cacique de la Junta", por su pueblo natal, situado en el norte del país, y también es muy conocido en Venezuela.

Didn't know this about Dio. I'm not clear on whether he actually killed her or was an accomplice, or if he was culpable to some extent because one of his band members did it and he rented the apartment.
