Seems hard to believe but I was told that there won't be any alcohol sales this weekend because of the elections. Does that mean all the bars and discos will be closed? Also another friend told me that traveling out of the city will be more dangerous this weekend. Anybody else hear anything about this?

Robert Jorge says on Oct 26, 2007, 12:43: At least in Villavicencio, I batted 1000 on buying beer on election day(s). Any little mom and pop will sell you some beer if you knock on the window or door. At least that was my experience. Major chain grocery stores like Exito, Olympica, etc. - bars, restaurants, clubs - nope, no booze. But if you want to buy a few beers for the house it shouldn't be a problem. (Unless other cities are stricter than Villavo, which I would find hard to believe)

Peet says on Oct 26, 2007, 12:52: I think it should be possible to find some black market booze (if that's the term I can use for this), but for those who are consulting this site before Friday, 6.00 pm, and willing to stock up, after 6.00 pm, no booze. Before that, no problemas ... at least that's how it is in Bogotá.
