Driver's License In Colombia

Hi,

Could some one please advise if my Dutch driver's license is valid in Colombia or do I have to get an International Driver's License, OR can I get a Colombian one (PASE) by showing my Dutch one ?

Any help is appreciated.

You will get a fine if you dont have a colombian licience Or so I was told by a transit officer. In order to get a licence you need a colombian "id" called a cellular. In order to get a cellular you need a long term visa.....thats colombian paper work for you.....I suppose you could just say you didnt know and thought an international one would be o.k, and hope they dont fine you, anyway how they going to chase you up for the fine?

as fas as I know As far as I know your license should be valid in Colombia, mine was US Driver's License. as long as you're a tourist with a valid visa your license it's an international document, but you might have to purchase insurance in the country in which you plan to drive.

I believe what you meant was a Cedula. I cannot imagine that I need a cell phone to legally drive.......But after all, IT IS Colombia

You can get a Cedula de Extrangeria.
I have a Colombian Driver's License and I am not a Colombian.
It's pretty simple to get the license really.
You may need a cedula De Extrangeria, I don't remember.
You have to go to the Dept. of Transportes, show them you
Dutch driver's license and make application. I think you have to wait three days (here again, I don't remember) Also, You have to have a small photo 0f yourself which they put on the license. Ther is a fee which you have to pay.
