You should update your thread title to make it more descriptive so others know you want to have a get together in the NYC area.

I can suggest drinks at Sutra on 1st and 1st on Saturday night. I'll be there with a bunch of friends (for my b'day). Drop by with some heads if you want. No cover and relaxed dress code.

If there's another get together some other night, I'm down for that as well.

I was reading over the posts and discovered that only a few of us might know what Swinn and I are talking about. We would like to arrange a get together on Saturday April 19 at Mi Tierrita Restaurant in Brentwood, NY.

Mi Tierrita is a Colombian restaurant and is popular among the latino population of Suffolk County, NY. Brentwood is on the Ronkonkoma line of the Long Island Railroad and is easily reachable from Penn Station in New York City. You can also get there on the Long Island Expressway or the Southern State Parkway.

If it's just going to be me and Swinn and his family, that's cool. I would like to extend the invitation to anyone who might be interested. I have been to this restaurant on several occaisions and try to get there everytime I get out to Brentwood.

The sangria here is particularly potent and must be sampled. Swinn is checking out the availability and will let us know more as soon as he has additional information.

The train from Penn Station to Brentwood costs between $6.75 - $13.50 depending on senior citizen status and peak or off peak hours. It takes about 1hr 10mins. If I remember correctly, it's walking distance to Mi Tierrita. If not, we can arrange pick ups.

Brentwood is actually about 40 miles from Yankee stadium and a bit less depending on where in the Bronx you want to go. a good portion of the mileage is getting to the stadium driving like crazy in the bronx. If you are driving and there is no traffic then you can bank on getting their in about 45 minutes. If your heavy on the peddle then 35 minutes without traffic. I live in Central Islip and I drive to the Bronx about 3 days a week so I can Assure you that it's not 75 Miles and it wont take 3.5 hours even on a busy traffic day. The best bet for people that will be comming from NYC is to Hop on the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) at Penn station and catch an express on the Ronkonkoma Line. it's about an hour ride. If you catch a local then it's about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It's roughly half the mileage that Aaron says and alot less time to get there

Lolol... yeah I was exaggerating ... However, it is 45 miles from Brentwood to the Stadium. If there is traffic it will take a minimum of 2 hours each way - without traffic more than an hour and that is driving fast. Swinn, it takes 15 minutes sometimes just to get in or out Brentwood to the highway and then another 15 - 20 minutes looking for parking at the Stadium. The train each way is the best bet, but I would not try to get a game and a meet-up in on the same day!
