Any members here interested in having drinks in New York City or Long Island? I think I would like to meet some PBH members face to face.

Papi de Alejo says on Apr 3, 2008, 15:52: Hey Swinn, I often head out to CI to see some friends out there. Looking for any excuse to visit Mi Territa again. I'll get in touch when I'm headed that way unless you plan something before I get there.

Swinn88 says on Apr 3, 2008, 17:01: Hey Papi Mi tierrita Is from my opinion the best colombian restaurant on Long Island. The food is absolutely amazing and we should without a doubt hook up for some fine dining and drinks. I currently live in C.I. and am ready anytime. My wife and kids would enjoy it also. Lets make it happen.

Papi de Alejo says on Apr 3, 2008, 17:24: How is either Saturday April 19th? Would afternoon or evening be preferred? Anyone in NYC Metro feel free to indicate an interest. Swinn if this date doesn't work for you, propose an alternative. Do you know if Mi Tierrita can accomodate large groups?

I am from Connecticut but don't know my way around the city. Thinking of taking the train into Grand Central. Anyone interest in getting our families together to site see in NY let me know. I have a young son also, if any of the members have kids.

Papi de Alejo says on Apr 4, 2008, 15:43: I was reading over the posts and discovered that only a few of us might know what Swinn and I are talking about. We would like to arrange a get together on Saturday April 19 at Mi Tierrita Restaurant in Brentwood, NY.

goin_south says on Apr 5, 2008, 22:37: ""Mi Tierrita is a Colombian restaurant and is popular among the latino population of Suffolk County, NY"" and, thank you. |

goin_south says on Apr 5, 2008, 23:17: Not just any baseball game. DAT BE: DA NEW JORK JANKEES!!! and, thank you. |
|
Aaron21 says on Apr 5, 2008, 23:48: Honestly G_S, Brentwood is probably 75 miles from the stadium - straight east on the island. If you are going to the game, just go - forget Brentwood ...

goin_south says on Apr 5, 2008, 23:49: m.g. and, thank you. |

Papi de Alejo says on Apr 6, 2008, 13:06: The train from Penn Station to Brentwood costs between $6.75 - $13.50 depending on senior citizen status and peak or off peak hours. It takes about 1hr 10mins. If I remember correctly, it's walking distance to Mi Tierrita. If not, we can arrange pick ups.

Swinn88 says on Apr 7, 2008, 08:07: Brentwood is actually about 40 miles from Yankee stadium and a bit less depending on where in the Bronx you want to go. a good portion of the mileage is getting to the stadium driving like crazy in the bronx. If you are driving and there is no traffic then you can bank on getting their in about 45 minutes. If your heavy on the peddle then 35 minutes without traffic. I live in Central Islip and I drive to the Bronx about 3 days a week so I can Assure you that it's not 75 Miles and it wont take 3.5 hours even on a busy traffic day. The best bet for people that will be comming from NYC is to Hop on the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) at Penn station and catch an express on the Ronkonkoma Line. it's about an hour ride. If you catch a local then it's about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It's roughly half the mileage that Aaron says and alot less time to get there

rhydewithdis says on Apr 7, 2008, 08:21: That's a little too far for me. If you guys decide to have something more closer to the city, count me in. Any of the Colombian spots in Queens or anywhere in Manhattan would be easy for me to get to. They said I couldn't play football I was too small / They say I couldn't play basketball I wasn't tall / They say I couldn't play baseball at all / And now everyday of my life I ball. |
|
Aaron21 says on Apr 7, 2008, 10:15: Lolol... yeah I was exaggerating ... However, it is 45 miles from Brentwood to the Stadium. If there is traffic it will take a minimum of 2 hours each way - without traffic more than an hour and that is driving fast. Swinn, it takes 15 minutes sometimes just to get in or out Brentwood to the highway and then another 15 - 20 minutes looking for parking at the Stadium. The train each way is the best bet, but I would not try to get a game and a meet-up in on the same day!

|
Swinn88 says on Apr 7, 2008, 11:33: Rhyde don't let the Distance discourage you. If need be Ill snatch you up in the city and drive you out to Brentwood. Same offer for you Aaron, and of course goin south.
