thur says on Feb 9, 2007, 02:13: El Dorado. The contest to control and overhaul the airport (for 650 million USD) was held last year and Opaín won the concession. They agreed in general with the design which won several months earlier, although they will have the freedom to make some changes. They won because they presented plans in which the government would receive 46% of revenue, more than any other consortium offered. Opaín is a Colombian/ Swiss consortium, it can be read here: - pbase.com/thur 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

michaelz says on Feb 9, 2007, 07:51: where? It would appear that they can't demolish the old terminal until the new one is ready. Where will the new terminal be located? How bad can we expect the chaos to be in getting in and out during construction?

juanalejo says on Feb 10, 2007, 18:25: Several Stages There will be several stages for the construction for the original redesign, first the old cargo airport (in between Puente Aereo and main terminal) will be knocked down and moved across the airport next to the newer Cargo area (right hand on exit from the airport), then the first part of the new terminal will be built right from the Puente Aereo all the way to main terminal, once done all international flights will move there and first half of Eldorado comes down and is rebuilt, then second half comes down and is rebuilt and finally Puente Aereo comes down and gives way for second half of international terminal. The article is not exact as just only the first half of the new terminal will be 134.000 sq mts. if you add up the existing El Dorado and Puente Aereo once all remodeled it will be around 200.000 sq mts of airport space.
