I know a couple of Colombians who entered the US illegally. What ever your stance on illegal immigrants is, how do Colombians do it? I imagine that it must be relatively easy for people from Mexico to cross the border, but Colombians must have a different strategy.

goin_south says on Jan 19, 2007, 21:21: so what? tell us your plan, or how they did it? Colombians entering the USA illegally. No interest here, for purposes of duplication, but only out of interest. It's a long freakin raft-ride from Colombia to EEUU. HOW DID THEY DO IT? INS? Me? WTF is it? Where do we go from here? 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Azul says on Jan 19, 2007, 21:27: I'm not suggesting doing it...... "It's a long freakin raft-ride from Colombia to EEUU", which is the very reason that I wondered how they do it. las cosas caen por su propio peso 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

miamimike says on Jan 19, 2007, 21:39: Couple cases here in Miami,,, This scenario, no longer possible(for maybe a couple years),,Buy a ticket to Spain via Miami or NYC only once in Miami or NYC , exit the Airport, forgetting to use the remainder of their ticket to Spain.Due to some Colombian Tourists exercising this Option, ALL Colombians now need a US Tourist Visa even to transit through Miami(nyc), if a stop is involved where they exit the plane on US soil for 2 minutes. Sadly this is causing a lot of inconvienence to law abiding Colombians wishing to transit thru the a US Airport. Selfish interests some have,,,They ruined this Option for everyone "Wait a minute. famsearch says on Jan 19, 2007, 21:43: here's how they do it... they hop on a plane in bogota, stopping briefly in caracas, rio de jenerio, johnannesburg, alexandria, barcelona, rome, warsaw, berlin, oslo, dublin, london, new york, cleveland, des moines, little rock, tijuana, and finally arriving in miami. needless to say, the route changes on odd days of odd weeks... dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

utopiacowboy says on Jan 19, 2007, 21:48: It's a shame to see such enterprise rewarded with jail time. I am sure that the people selling the visas were doing at least as good a job as the State Department's worthless employees. If we can't have a day when we get to kill the bureaucrat of our choice, how about one where we at least get to rough them up a little? Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

So they get to Canada under legal circumstances and then cross into the US illegally?? Doesn't make a lot of sense does it? las cosas caen por su propio peso 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

JMCana says on Jan 23, 2007, 05:04: Getting more difficult I have never interviewed anyone crossing from Mexico over the Texas border, but over a 5 year period interviewed several who crossed the border in California. It is getting more difficult. Twenty years ago many people told me they would just hide and wait until no one was looking and hop the fence. It seems now that the average payment for the help of a coyote is about $2,000 and the crossing conditions are not easy. Some have told me it took them 3 tries before getting successful. Fortunately the better coyotes do not collect until you are successfully over. Unfortunately the Mexican police and others have figured that out and rob the people who get caught and return to Mexico on the immigration bus.
