Don't Mix

5 day old bandeja paisa left-overs with 3 day old pizza left-overs.

Pollo con Champeñones
I got the bandeja paisa at a colombian resruraunt here in the states, the pizza was from dominoes. But the best pizza I've ever had is the pollo con champeñones in San Mateo.

Dominoes I only eat cause it is cheap and convenient. But I'm definently not a pizza connoisseur.
I do like those hot peppers Papa Johns gives you.;)

Oh. I like the little garlic butter cuos from Papa Johns too. My wife says the San Mateo pizza isn't that good anymore; they started using cheaper ingredients. So much for "better ingredients, better pizza".

By east cost you must be referring to the North East. Not that I could tell a good pizza if it bit me in the mouth, but we have a Bizzaro's in town that is supposed to be "real" pizza.

It would be much more interesting to know where to get a good pizza in Colombia, say Medellín.

I noticed the pizza in Italy, Napoli is totally different to US pizza, much thinner, simpler toppings etc. I like both, but one is totally unlike the other, they might as well be different dishes altogether.

The one thing that surprised me in the US they eat pizza by picking up the slice instead of with a knife and fork. Very curious, but practical; because it is not easy driving a car and talking on the cell phone whilst juggling a knife and fork.

pizza Well i go to Archies as it takes 5 minutes to walk there and they have good onion soup. Many Colombians eat pizza with a fork and knife as well as hamburgers, and one sees this all the time. The larger issue is after 5 years one can already see fatter young Colombians from the fast food restaurants .

Update Wow, a lot of pizza aficionado's out there. I was just trying to warn everyone on what not to mix, but it actually didn't turn out to bad for me. So, if you dare...... go ahead..... mix 5 day old bandeja paisa left-overs with 3 day old pizza left-overs. Just make sure you get the pizza where you like it.

I did see people in Italy eating pizza with a knife and fork, but that isn't where I was referring to in particular with that comment. I worded it poorly; I meant to say coming from the UK it seemed odd to eat with the fingers. Then again I eat a pasty or fish n chips with my fingers and Americans use a fork!

Or roll it and make a burrito or fold it and make a soft taco, or is it a chalupa?

I'm no pizza connoisseur and have never been to Italy, but I will say I like the pizza in 1969 very much... lots of interesting choices and fresh. The salads there are awesome too. Most people eat the pizza there with knife and fork, cause it's slightly more formal with waiters and all, in most other pizza places you eat with your hands.

Plenty of brick oven pizza in NYC besides Lombardi's. Cafe Tosca in the Bronx has it, to name one.
To tell the truth, I find the Italian food in NYC severely lacking compared to what I was used to in Toronto, but then again there are more Italians in Toronto!

Oh brother, this thread is about food and opinions about pizza. Why do people get so upset over an entirely subjective matter...?

I wanted access to health care, housing and education, but, no, I get potholes, trash and silicone tits instead. -Desi.

Mario, there are quite a few Italians in Cartagena, not just those who are there as tourists chasing a bit of skirt, a few have settled in the area. We had OK pizza at Hotel da Pietro where we stayed, run by a Napolitan (sp?), it wasn't fantastic, the champiñones were crap, but the rest was quite palatible.

There are an estimated 65,000 plus Colombians residing in Italy.

There HAVE to be colombian restaurants in Italy. In Paris alone, I've counted at least 8 without being exhaustive.

With that many Colombians there has to be at least a few Colombian restaurants.

Where the hell is Zagarise when you need him?

oldgringo my bad....i thought you were referring to the overflowing farang here in Thailand....It's just that I'm in Samui right now and to give an example I was waiting for a seafood Tom Yam whilst I look over my left shoulder and I see a farang tucking into bacon, eggs and toast....I mean why bother? Mind you he could be living here in which case I'll excuse him.
