does canada give visas to fiances?

if i write a marriage proposal to my girlfriend, along with a copy of every document imaginable, is there a chance that the canadian embassy will give her a visa to come up and get married? thanx

No but go ahead and try and let us know how it turns out.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

I am thinking NO.
And, based I am thinking NO.
And, based on my experience, as well as several others... if Canada Immigration finds out there is some sort of romantic interest in Canada, I believe they will be even more unlikely to grant a visa... as there is more reason the individual will not leave Canada after the visa expires.
Canada Immigration will only grant a visa if they are satisfied that the person will leave Canada at the end of the visa... and in the case you suggest, the individual most likely will not.
I applied for a TRV 2 summers ago, along with an invitation letter, cause I wanted my gf to visit, to experience Canada, and so we could live together for one month, to see how compatible we are outside of Colombia... but Immigration declined the visa.
Unless you want to use an good immigration lawyer, maybe they have contacts or knowledge that may be useful... but for cases like ours, I an uncertain how valuable /useful that may be.
Let us know what you attempt, and what the outcome is.
Good luck

another thought... quebec If you live in quebec, they might have special status regarding immigration. I recall something about working visas specifically, and that quebec has a separate (unique) process to approve workers for the province. I do not know if this special status also applies to other classes for immigration or if it is only for the skilled workers class. Just a thought that you might want to think about, if you are in quebec.

yet another thought... student visa if you want to bring your gf to canada, you might want to consider a student visa (a different sort of TRV). Once she is in Canada, and after you marry, you can apply for the PRV and I believe she is entitled to stay... the difficult part is somehow getting her to Canada in the first place.

there is no fiacee visa for canada there are three ways to apply for couples---permanent resident visa
....1st...get married and apply
2nd...live commonlaw and apply
3rd...conjugal relationship ... you have to prove that you are a couple and due to circumstances beyond your control you can not be together.
in all three cases the application is the same and in all three cases you have to prove the relationship is genuine...
all three ways are slower that molasses in jan...(about a year give or take two months either way)
if you could swing it and have a business...a work visa only takes 6 or 7 weeks...or perhaps a student visa would be faster...or a visiters visa....in all three cases for these she would have to have signifigant ties to colombia to convince canada immigration she would return at the end of her visa....if she has property and money no problem...if she does,nt big problem....it does,t matter either if you suggest you will cover all her costs...they won,t accept that..she has to be able to cover the costs on her own...marraige may be the only way to get her here

Candian Temporary Visas Hello all. I'm new to the site and am very impressed with all the information everyone has posted. I have a Colombian girlfriend who I've been with for 6 months or so and our travels have included Cartagena and just recently Cuba. She applied for a Canadian Student Visa in November 2006 and was rejected on the basis that 'she did not prove that she would return to Colombia at the end of her studies' which in my opinion is probably the excuse they give for all the visa's which are rejected. My hope was that she could come here for a few months and see how she liked Canada as well as seeing how things go between us when we're not on vacation! I'm not really sure what to do next....and by the sounds of it, many of you have been in the same position. I have considered the marriage thing but by the sounds of it, it would be around a year to get her here which is not an option I like at this point. Does anyone have any experience with multiple visa applications? Does the chance of getting approved dimish with every application or are you starting from square one every time? Is a student visa easier than just a visitors visa? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I was wondering what the process would be to get her here on a working visa. She does have a somewhat specialized university degree in which I can likely get her a job offer in her field. Does anyone have experience with working visas?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

im thinking that the more times the embassy see,s an app ...and turn it down...the less her chances will be of getting to canada..they will begin to look at her as a visa hunter..id bet they keep a record of every visa application and after numerous refusals i doubt her chances would improve.
a work visa is no doubt much faster than getting married and appying...a work visa might take less than 2 months..
the company hiring her would have to post the job in the canada job bank and also run adds seeking to fill that position....they have to prove they can,t fill the job with a canadian before they can hire a forien worker...the forien worker apps can be downloaded on immigration canada,s website...its a two part process ...one for the company hiring and one for the forien worker ..both are sent to the consular in bogota to be finalized....i don,t know if chances are better with a work visa or not....as` with you my wife and i tryed for a visiters visa at the time we were married and just like you it was refused for the same reason.it will likley be the same story with a work visa...just like a visiters visa and just like your student visa where she has to have ties to colombia and convince them she will return...remember your dealing with goofs who don,t give a crap...its hard to understand as there are loads of immigrants coming here from other countrys and its no problem...at least no problem for the oil companys which are bringing them in by the thousands in northern alberta...lots of chinese..filipinos...east indians...and a lot of them are here working ilegal before the ink has dryed on there applications the oil companys have flown them in dirrect....but im sure that every single one of them is gonna just go home when there visa is finished....
i hate to say it ...but marraige may be the only way to get your lady to canada....im going through that right now...its a slow process and nothing you can do to speed it up....if you try they threaten to stall your application so it takes even longer....i suggest firing off a letter to the minister of immigration..i did...telling her a year or more to process a visa for my wife is pathetic....bogota,s consular is by fact one of the slowest on the planet...
