The main problem with your question is, that you don't give any specifics as to which city you're referring to. That is, if you are referrring to a city in the first place... I guess every city has some kind of "Virrey" neighbourhood as every city has a "Plaza de Bolivar". If you're referring to something in the South of Bogotá: there's a neighbourhood in the South towards Usme in the district (localidad) of San Cristobal or Usme, up the hills known as "Altos del Virrey" (calle 91 sur # 3C or something like that). I'm guessing that's not a place one would like to be. Although I've never been there...

Hello, ive just got back from spending one month there and ive had a great time, where i stayed was a very poor area but probably one of the reasons i was ok, everybody is too busy trying to make a living i dont think many people even realised i was there. I noticed as long as you use common sense and dont go out late, there is a good chance you will be ok. Thankyou for all your advice anyway. take care
