Does anyone have any information about Ibagué (e.g. hotels)?

Hello everyone and Happy 20 de Julio. :)

A friend of mine and I are planning to travel to Ibagué this afternoon from Bogotá. We just decided we need a bit of sun and Ibagué is a place I've always wanted to visit (my father was born there). She (my friend) has four kids and lives and works in Bogotá, but has little to no knowledge of Ibagué (she's from Medellín). I was wondering if anyone could give us any information regarding safe, relatively inexpensive places to stay while we are there (approx $40,000 to $50,000). Also, does anyone have any recommendations of things and places to see? Thank you so much, and enjoy the holiday!

Ibague I had one of the best weeks of life in Ibaque about 5 years ago , unfortunately most of it was a haze and I never got out of the hotel much . However it is mellow city for walking around , nice bars , restaurants, nice people , nice weather. The Tourist Police or whatever they are tried to suggest the hotels near the bus station, but they are terrible and the area is boring . I stayed in a nice hotel in that price range with TV, shower etc , it was round about Calle 15 , where the main Carrera crosses through ,near Dunkin Donuts.The taxi driver from the bus station took us there and there were a few other hotels near by ,Not much help I know

Altamira There is a hotel called Altamira with a nice pool area. I am not sure if it might be over your budget, just check it on internet. It is part of the French Sofitel chain.
