Documents to Europe

Anyone have experience in sending documents from Colombia to Europe?

What's the most cost-effective way to send something to arrive within about 2 weeks?

Servientrega quoted me 107,000 pesos with a 5 day delivery time. Surely Colombians are not paying this much to send any old letter overseas? What's the alternative?

Both Fedex and DHL are around 70,000 pesos for a package of documents. They should arrive in Europe or the U.S. in 2-4 days, plus any weekend days.

Expat, thanks for the info.

I ended up using a lesser alternative this time around. I am cheap and I can't stomach paying 70k for a letter that would cost me 3k if posted in my home country.

I used registered delivery with Adpostal. They quoted 3 weeks delivery time (Cartagena to the UK). As it happened, I mailed it on the 3rd and letter arrived on the 18th. I am just relieved it arrived. This service cost 22k for a typical envelope. It's cheaper if mailing to a destination within the Americas.

Deprisa has a service that costs roughly the same and they quoted 4 weeks delivery -- I believe they just pass on the letter to the Adpostal service.

Hope this helps someone.
