Do you think that Brazil's present industrial boom will benefit Colombia?

Greetings everyone! Last night on MSNBC there was an excellent segment on Brazil. The news article stated that their new President has the economy heading in the right direction and that U.S. companies have invested as much as $60 Billion U.S. into industrial and natural resources. Even China is getting into the mix by building a major highway from Brazil to a deep water port in Peru. If Brazil becomes South America's China will it benefit Colombia?

I also read in the Sunday paper that a whopping 75% of people in Brazil actually think that a military invasion by the US to get at Brazil's resources is a real possibility.

seems like it should, they have a free trade agreement with each other.

I found it hard to believe the percentage was that high too. One of the things that causes alarm in the minds of Brazilians is the fact that the US claims the Amazon does not belong to Brazil, but rather it belongs to the world. This they see as the opening rhetoric, the beginning if you like for a US led invasion to protect the Amazon. Then they expect the US to pay for this invasion and subsequent occupation and management by pumping all the resources out of the country and giving lucrative contracts to US companies.

I have no idea where they could get such an idea. ;-)
