Do we really need 10 threads on the same subject? Like Chavez vs Uribe? FARC Raul Reyes Dead?

Why not just post a similiar article, thoughts, comments, threads,in the first thread that is posted on PBH regarding the same subject?

All these multiply threads flush out all the other threads.

And puh-leeze, do not comment on somone's thread by posting a comment as a new thread above the existing thread.

It was just a suggestion to improve PBH. Nevermind, carry on as before.

MT, I see in my Colombian wife's eyes, the hurt if Colombia goes to war, with all the other problems compounded with this news. This is a site that tells pretty much all sides of the story from real Colombian people perspective and not just the media side. But I do recommend you as mod, as you are pretty much always fair and balanced in your comments, I hope no offense Don MT:)

Depends on the definition you give to the word "gringo"
The creator is Belgian (European), the mods are Finnish-Swedish (European) and Colombian-Canadian.

Perhaps a half of our members would be either US Americans or Colombian_Americans, the rest from all over the world..

I don't see this as a "gringo" or "Colombian" site. It's Peter's site, it's for everybody who has a genuine interest in Colombia.

ColombianoGringo says on Mar 2, 2008, 14:44:

Why? On many occasions, different threads about the same subject turn into distinct conversations with sometimes entirely different participants. What is the damage done if there are many threads? They only take up a tiny amount of storage on a database server somewhere. If you don't want to read a thread, simply ignore it.

Medellin Traveler says on Mar 2, 2008, 14:50:

What if someone is looking for engaging conversation, or would like to hear others thoughts and comments. If a member replies to a thread, and a multiple thread show up above, he will almost always ignore the new thread because he has a vested interest in the another thread, which he has posted. Bandwith had nothing to do with my suggestion.

In keeping with the spirit of not starting a new thread on the same subject.....

Check out the video, great shots of all the action that special night when Raul Reyes said buenas noches for the last time...

Yes. What a tricky bastard that Uribe, but what i don't understand is why they always have to tell the enemy how they tracked down their prey. It could have been used again, and again, and again, until there were no FARC leaders, not anymore.

ColombianoGringo says on Mar 2, 2008, 15:05:

I don't think this is the first time a farc scum has been tracked with satellite phone. They really have very few options. They have to communicate quickly one way or another. Regardless of how careful they may be, it only takes one slip up to find them.

Too many threads, but I guess that was logical...

MT: This isn't the first time that the media, the government or the military have publicly mentioned and demonstrated that FARC communications can be tracked and bugged, whether passively or in order to show the contents or intercepted messages and execute attacks.

Still, I do think they'll be far more careful at this time...but probably not forever. Their communications take way too long when they don't use phones, to say the least. They are not dumb, they know those can be traced, but they've kept using them from time to time.
