DirectTV or Dish on Computer ?

Anybody know if the software you can download gets us all the channels like they say in the ads. "Watch all on your computer". Seems fishy. Also, for techies a question?
Could you hook up a computer with internet connection on a plamsa tv ?
thanks , Joe

Morgan I think pilotguy is talking about getting tv direct on your computer. I tried your www.hulu.com and is says it is only good for the US. I remember downloading a tv software program and it was pretty bad.

You have to have a special connection on your tv in order to connect your computer to it. I cannot remember the name of it right now. I had an hd lcd hooked up to my computer like morgan. I could switch it back and forth real easy and watch tv or work on my computer. I will be doing this again when I return to Colombia.

Try jumptv online but I do not know how it works, you may have to pay a minimal subscription fee.

With slinbox solo and cable tv you could watch thru internet, whatever channels your local provider offers. You can watch on your computer wherever you are, and with the cable provider an a VHS you can control chanels and volume.

I know there is a card you put in your computer that you can program to get all the channels (Dish Network & Bell Express Vu). Not sure if there is a stand alone program. Probably a scam.
Get a video card with TV out and you can run any TV.

Will a video card installed on your pc give you tv programming? Or do you still need to have cable company in your house to feed the signal from the coax cable to the computer?

There are tv capture cards that will let you watch tv on your computer, you would only see what your local provider gives you, you can record and program, but you would not be able to access your tv from another location and from internet, that is what slingbox let you do.

If you get the special video card for the computer you still need a dish pointed to the satellite you want. Your best bet is to just buy a FTA box. The most popular ones can be connected wireless and are maintenance free.
