Desperation in Colombia?

Just watched a dude with a grenade have people from the press read his message on tv; didn't understand a lot but it seemed like all he wanted was his pension that he felt was due him after 20 years of service. After getting part of his message out CityTV switched to cartoons, and when they came back on the air, a male reporter was further explaining what was going on. About then, he was rushed by a DAS agent who immobilized the grenade and others joined to hold him down He was then taken off to jail by the police, etc. So, are people really getting screwed like that here, and will more and more of them turn to acts of desperation like this?

Yeah - I saw that comment. Yes, people are getting screwed like that there. People get screwed out of their pensions here in EEUU all the time. Sad. No reason to resort to what he did.

Yes, very sad. Screwed up his life more than it was before, and put a lot of people in danger who had nothing to do with his problem.

But people do freak out, not saying this guy was right. I know so many people here that have their pensions stolen from them. To get them back, they have to hire a lawyer and then the lawyer usually steals most of it.

I could very easily say that the guy deserved his pension, out of human pity and empathy, but I know nothing about his case and what was the status of his pension requirements and so forth. He's complaining, and I imagine he had a reason to do so, but more than that is impossible to say.

Even so, I don't think abuses should be fought with more abuse (or even worse, because a lack of a pension is not equivalent to taking one human life..let alone several).

Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room

I have the CD. Pretty interesting documentary and a sad tale about alot of fine people losing everything they had at the hand of greed.

Well, he won't have to worry about his future now. He'll be assured of a roof and 3 meals per day. . .in jail.
