If your online they will show the breakdown of the Taxes. They all show the breakdown should be around 85.00 for Taxes. If thats the amount yes the departure tax is included...Now Copa is tricky online..they have a fuel surcharge for 60.00 which the breakdown has taxes and surcharges combined into the same amount which will be about 146.00..

Just look for the 85.00 or 86.00 tax breakdown before purchasing..

Today my wife took a Delta... ...flight out of Atlanta to Bogotá. If you have not flown Delta lately you have a pleasant surprise on your next flight. They have completely redone the Atlanta Delta counter. Amazing that you can now do your international via the PC at the airport. We have never had an easier time at an airport.

The whole renovation at Delta puts them in a leadership position. Let's hope they can maintain the New Airline!

Aztec you mean Check In via A Terminal If So.. MIA just swipe your passport and get your boarding pass with American if you have no check in baggage. CopaAir you now with internet check in you can by pass many lines if no bags to check in.. I go online and go straight to the gate with Copa..in MIA..This is new because the security looks at the boarding pass paper and have to look twice because they don't recognize this new feature with Copa..

I wish Ft.Lauderdale they would get flights to Medellin but not yet only Avianca has a Ft.Lauderdale Flight to Bogota..Have to still go to MIAwhere you have Aeropostal,Avianca,Copa,American to get ot Medellin...Aeropostal and Copa you have one stop..and Avianca if you go thru Bogota,Cartagena,Cali,or Barrenquilla..

Peace Out MIA still has the best selection to pick from..

My thoughts... Of course I can't see exactly how the detailed breakdown of taxes and surcharges on _your_ ticket is, however... if I look into the taxes of Delta tickets ATL-BOG-ATL in general, they're like this:
Tax: US International Departure Tax $15.10
Tax: US International Arrival Tax $15.10
Tax: US Customs Fee $5.50
Tax: US Immigration Fee $7.00
Tax: USDA APHIS Fee $5.00
Tax: US September 11th Security Fee $5.00
Tax: US Passenger Facility Charge $9.00

I don't see the Colombian departure tax in there. Now, if I do a search on a Continental ticket EWR-BOG-EWR, it's like this:
Tax: US September 11th Security Fee $2.50
Tax: US International Departure Tax $15.10
Tax: US Passenger Facility Charge $4.50
Tax: US International Arrival Tax $15.10
Tax: Colombia Int'l Airport Tax (TASA) $32.00
Tax: US Customs Fee $5.50
Tax: US Immigration Fee $7.00
Tax: USDA APHIS Fee $5.00

Apparantly they _do_ include the Colombian departure tax. If you want to make sure, it will be better to call Delta directly and ask them. That way you'll avoid getting a 32 USD surprise at check-in.

M_C, so you are really coming? The weather is usually hot in June. Thats when the beaches are open here. Long Beach and Jones Beach in Long Island are nice. We have Orchard beach here in the Bronx. Not too pretty but drinking on the beach is allowed. For Colombian food, go to "Listo El Pollo" in Queens near Roosevelt ave. What do you like to do? I have no idea what you like. Latin Clubs? Try "La Kueva" on Queens Blvd, "Aguanas" in Manhattan, "718" in the Bronx. You can take a party boat around Manhattan. Those are usually fun.

As far as I know you have to pay the exit tax at the airport for all Colombian travel. I buy my tickets on line and fly COPA and still have always had to pay the exit tax separately.

Different Airlines have different policies,,,some include it, and others dont....you just have to read the fine print when they add the "taxes and fees" to the price of the ticket....some will include it in the final price, although i would guess that most dont...i normally use American, Delta, and Continental depending on what i am bringing with me....

Just my opinion...

I flew Copa April 26-29th Did not pay Departure Tax. Since last year I have flown back and forth have not paid once the departure tax at the Medellin Airport always included..American,Avianca, and Copa now Aeropostal does not include it..yet I think...and Aero Republica going to Panama only will not include.but if you buy your ticket from Copa and they put you on Aero Republica for the leg between Colombia and Panama as long as your last leg is going to the States the tax is included in the ticket.

Just flew Copa April 26th-29th did not pay just got my white slip from the tax counter and walked in checked myself in at the Copa Counter and showed them the white Slip..They actually are surprised that I have it with me already..but tell them I go back and forth so I know the system..You need to look for that 32.00 Colombian Departure Tax..Now be careful with Copa they have a fuel surcharge broken out sometimes and sometimes they don't break it out like sobrecargo..I am telling this fuel surcharge is tricky because copa.com will always break it out and it looks like the taxes are 60.00 higher and over the phone the receipt will include the fuel surcharge and only the taxes will be broken out the same for Copa tickets on orbitz or expedia..

Comment from above that Delta ticket does not include the departure tax so maybe Delta does not have an agreement with the Tax counter and does not want the maintence of keeping track and collecting colombian tax funds...because I am sure the other air lines float the money for 30 days and make a payment once a month to the Colombian Tax Authority...

I do not think the airport tax is ever included in any airline ticket.

Smile if you are a thinker!
