Yes, Julián. Just to remember when adressing female:

dear= queridos(both female and male),ex: queridos amigos, queridos mamá y papá...
dear= queridAs (only for female or female subjet like)queridas tías, queridas primas, querida familia (familia is female subject)

I'm sending a card to my kid friend, and I know his mom's first name. I don't think it'd be polite to address her as Gloria. I think her last name is the same as my friend's, but not sure of that, either. Is it better just to say Senora (last name) or call her by her first name (which I don't want to do unless it's ok)?

"QUERIDA GLORIA" You'd be better off just addresing her as Querida Gloria. Regarding her last name, is probably not the same as your friend's, unless you know your friend's second last name, which would be his/her mom's last name. Hope this helps....take care. VIC
