DAS email?

I looked up http://www.das.gov.co/ and found the below information for DAS in Medellin. When I tried to send them an email (to: secantadm at das.gov.co), it could not be delivered. Anyone have any idea why? I was told that I need to set up an appointment in advance to get a cedula from them in addition to the blood test, etc. Please help.

Emailing DAS. Kind of funny. No offense intended. I never had to make any appointment with DAS. Just first come first served policy. If you have your blood test and all the things you require set to go. If you need photo graphs there are places very close by to help you out. They will give you a form and you will have to go to the bank to pay them. I would take a taxi to the band.

Good Luck and watch for fat Betty..is that her name? Can't remember lol.

That's Fat Fanny. You have to physically go there to ask for the appointment.

When I went to register my last VISA, they gave me a list of stuff to get and an appointment about 3 weeks in the future. That was in Oct. of last year.

Make and appointment? In Bogotá and Cali it's walk in-first come first served. They will make and appointment and give you a form(s) of what you will need you will need:

1. Original Passport containing the appropriate visa;
2. Certificate of Blood Group/RH Factor (Certificación de grupo sanguíneo R.H) which may be obtained at almost any medical center cost about 6/8.000;
3. Three color photographs measuring 3 cm. x 4 cm. with white background;
4. Photocopy of the Cédula registration fee receipt (front and reverse sides) issued by the Bancafe with the account number (may be something like Cta. Cte. Cte. No 416990232 a nombre del Fondo Rotatorio del DAS No. 416990232) I THINK the present cost is $120.500
5. Complete the form (Diligenciar ) you will be given

I would wait until you get what you will need form the DAS office where you apply. Things differ from office to office and sometime from week to week depending who you deal with.

Gator: Things do change. In Medellin on the second application for cedula they would not accept photos with a white background. They required a blue background.

Step #1: Go to DAS and pickup the list you need.

Step #2: They will give you an appointment. (this is a recent change)

Step #3: Return with the above items on the date of your appointment. You will receive your temporary cedula.

Step #4: Return in about one month for your second cedula which will be embossed in plastic. It's still only good for one year.

They now have an English speaking employee who was very helpful during my last visit. She seems to have some authority over the office. FAT fanny was no longer working in the office.

It has to be a light blue background. Those photo shops also have dark blue. Don't even think about dark.

I didn't get the temporary cedula for about a week. Yes, that was another trip. Then I had to go back 3 more times before the regular cedula was ready. It took around 3 months.

Fat Fanny was still there in Jan. But I did deal with a pleasant woman who spoke some English.

Now it's the entry guard's turn to fuck with us. One time he refused to let my novia inside with me. The next time, different guard, my novia was allowed inside with me.

I'd like to thank everyone for the input. It's a huge help. I'll post my experience with DAS after March. Thank god, fat fanny is gone. I've heard some awful experiences from the folks who had to deal with her. I can only stay for 1 1/2 weeks in March. I hope it's enough time to get a cedula.

My advice for anything dealing with a DAS office - go with infinite patience and the mindset that nothing will be accomplished and that you have an entire day to waste. Then, if things go well, you will be pleasantly surprised.
