Dann Carlton vs. Sheraton Four Points Medellin

I have about 20 people coming down for a week to Medellin for my wedding. I have only been to Medellin twice so I am not so familiar locations and prices of hotels. Anyway I think everyone seems to like to Dann Carlton better from what I have read and it's location being walking to nightlife. However I have also seen the room rates are a lot higher on travelocity etc.. Should (can) I negotiate a group rate with the hotels. Any suggestions?

you should definitely contact them directly...it is not high season at the moment and there are no special conferences on at the moment. the rate they quote should be significantly less... get someone on the phone with a good grasp of spanish

Dann Carlton I don´t know where you plan to have your wedding reception party but the Dann Carlton has a wonderful Wedding/Party Hall on top of the Hotel, the view is great.
Sheraton is a smaller hotel, the only advantage would be that it´s "surrounded" by the largest Mall in Medellin, Oviedo.

I stayed at both this year, and I prefer the Sheraton by far.

Nobody is going to walk anywhere at night so it doesn't matter that the Dan Carlton is a little closer to Parque Lleras. But the Sheraton is right next to Oviedo Mall - you just walk there at anytime.

The rooms and service is for sure way better at the Sheraton. I don't know about the facilities for party rooms etc., Perhaps the Dan Cartlon has a roof top thing. But the views from the rooms at the Sheraton are very nice and the rooms, service and ambiance is just much nicer at the Sheraton for me.

Sheraton I think I agree with you about the Sheraton. Beinag able to walk to the Oviedo Mall is a great selling point. I thin tommytoyz has me convinced. When I ask my wife she says Dann Carlton. Why do people from Medellin think it is so much better than the Sheraton?

Good Comments
How far is the nightlife area from the Sheraton, in regards to blocks away from the hotel & minutes? How "not a good idea is it" to walk from the Sheraton to the Nightlife spot say, at night? I am fluent in Spanish & look Colombian with a Capital C. Thanks!

Also, is the first week of January a high time in Medallo hotel industry?

_Angel_Gabriel The first week in Medellin is quite for the hotel industry in Medellin.

Wether the Sheraton or the Dan Carlton is best, depends generally on each person.

Taking Parque Lleras as mid point in the Zona Rosa, walking there from the Dan Carlton will take about 5 mins and from the Sheraton about 15 mins.

Walking to Oveido from the Dan Carlton is about 10 mins.

Poor internet reception at the Sheritan I had so many wireless problems, I stopped staying there.
Not sure how the Dann is in this area.

I used Poblando Plaza. Not one of the choices I know; but my experience with them was fantastic.
