I know a few people here live in NYC - it's DAMN HOT the past 2 weeks. I'm going crazy. It's not just the heat, I don't mind the heat, it's the humidity too, and the fact that you're stuck in the city.
People often think Colombia's hot, but it's really not, most of it. Bogota is chilly. Medellin is spring-y. Cartagena can be hot, but it doesn't get as humid as in NY, I much prefer Cartagena.
How bout you guys?

famsearch says on Aug 5, 2006, 19:58: you're right about the medellin area. but you're getting what we in minnesota were getting the last week or two. funny thing is we just suck it up, and keep going. while we were getting hit with 100+ degrees, nothing on the news, but when it hits the east coast, IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!! for me, the east coast folks ought to toughen up and live here in the midwest for a while, learn what real weather extremes really are... lol dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Rubiazo says on Aug 5, 2006, 21:39: It was the same way when I was growing up in Winniepg, you are just expected to be stoic about some of the world's worst weather. If you opened your mouth to bitch about it you were a pussy and subject to a beat down. Personally I'm glad I got away from that ass part of the world. What the hell are people even doing living there anyways?

Gomezman5 says on Aug 5, 2006, 22:13: Hey Peter....... What you are suffering we had in Chicago a few days ago. I think it hit 100 on Wednesday/Thursday. Funny, I remember getting into my car the other day at 11:00 PM, and the weather man on the radio said it was 92 degrees at O'Hare Field, I cannot remember ever hearing Chicago being 92 degrees at 11 at night.

Gomezman5 says on Aug 5, 2006, 23:59: Famsearch....I hate this weather. I would rather have Chicago's famous sub zero temperature and wind chill factors than all this heat and humidity. Not to mention what it does to my electric bill.

Miguel says on Aug 6, 2006, 00:04: Nearly the entire US Has been under record heat for two weeks; the Midwest, California, the East Coast, and many parts of the South. Today's high in St. Louis was a comfortable 91F, the lowest high temp in 3 weeks. We hit a heat index of 116 last week. It feels like Barranquilla without cumbia and mamacitas.

I have lived in Texas all my life an as you get older the heat really starts taking its toll on you. I have not been to any place that is more miserable than dallas for heat ever during the August. NY,FLa, NC none of them know how lucky they are to be in regualar summer heat. Dallas the air doesnt move an the humdidity an the city escalation the heat is miserable.

utopiacowboy says on Aug 6, 2006, 15:10: I love Monteria! It's hard to say which is hotter, the temperature or the chicas. It may be a dusty, dirty, noisy, crowded, traffic-choked dump but nothing beats it for vitality and vivacity. Other than the toll booth at Los Cedros, it's my favorite place in Colombia. utopiacowboy says on Aug 6, 2006, 21:39: GD, Monteria is the one place where I can behave as we do here never thinking about security or constantly being aware of your surroundings. That's what's a drag about Medellin - security is always the #1 thing on your mind. It's tedious thinking about it. Heck, the first thing we do when we come back to my wife's apartment in Medellin is lock the door behind us. You're always obsessed with locking things. Meanwhile in Monteria, the front door is usually wide open to get air circulating in the house. At night everybody sits out on the sidewalk and talks or plays cards and pedestrians wandering by stop and visit. You won't see that in Medellin. I don't know whether the chicas want to leave but I am the object of a lot of female curiosity since they rarely see a gringo. If I weren't married, I could do quite well. Rubiazo says on Aug 6, 2006, 23:15: I wonder what really is the hottest spot I guess it must be the desert in Huila. Dry heat is not as uncomfortable as humid heat but it's actually a lot more dangerous even.

mcraig says on Aug 8, 2006, 18:09: Dallas texas heat Thats what they tell us on the News why we are getting so much hotter in around the metro plex. We had two high school football players die of heat stroke not too far away the other day, Thats just scares the shit out of me cause my oldest is playing this year an eventhough I coach an played an college an just wanna teach these boys to play right so they dont get hurt. For some reason its tough to judge this heat its different for some reason now. My coaches in JR high an HS punished us for bad play or being lazy by not letting us have water now they would probaly go to jail for that. But , it is hotter your kids are usued to it you think just like I was but there just seems to be alot kids that 4-6 grade that are just coach potatoes its hard to know how to far you can go with them. Its different generations I guess we never stayed inside as much as these kids do today. So the heat is real bad on us all I guess.

But , it will supposedly be so hot in Mexico but you always have a good breeze so it doesnt bother me. Thats the problem in Dallas your right in the area after end of spring an start of summer were the air just stops moving there is no breeze at all.

Rubiazo says on Aug 9, 2006, 22:48: According to Elmo Barranquilla is just as hot for most of the year as it was in the heat wave here. God knows if I lived there I'd sleep in an air conditioned room from 8am-4pm every day, wake up, eat a LONG breakfast and not go outside till the sun was going down!

In my wife's neighborhood of Belen-Miravalle, there will be people on the main thoroughfares but the side streets with residences will be deserted for the most part after 9.
