Daily Spending , Bogota.

Hola Amigos,,

I am traveling to colombia soon, from Canada.
My friend let me know that 100,000.00 pesos per day is all I will need, on average.

Not including hotel. I already have that seperate

100,000.00 is like.. 40$ US or something.

Does this mean, just for food and Taxi's? Or does this mean If I would like to have a few drinks or maybe put in a movie.

Also, average drink prices in an average Zona Rosa bar.

Any advice would be greatly apperciated.

Jordan~

p.s - soooooooooo excited! HOPE I DONT GET SICK FROM ALTITUDE.
Although she says to be more worried about Desiel pollution.
hehe

Overkill Frankly I think 100K per day is more than enough, I'd probably go for 50K per day (sans accomodation) and still be *quite* comfortable for a daily budget.

My experiences:
Taxi fares (ie going across the city) should be about 12-17K, local fares 3-5K, the transmilenio is 2500 rtn (I think), a cheap meal about 3K, a middle/high meal should be 10K, an extravagant one 24K (that said one of nicest lunches I had in Colombia cost only $3K), admission to stuff varies wildly -some things, like Donacion Botero, are free.

Not sure about Zona Rosa prices, but they are probably inflated for the more affluent folks in the North anyhow.

If I were you I'd save the extra money to make the trip last longer, or put it towards a good side trip to Amazonas, the coast, or the Eje Cafetero.

Thanks alot Adrimm.
Yes, she did say 100,000k was more than enough. But just wanted to make sure because I plan on doing everything I can within 10 days.

I have only 1000$US to spend, after hotel is paid.

In Bogota you could do it on 20k a day if you wanted and you could also do it on 500k a day. The price gap between poor and rich neighborhoods is vast down there!
In the Zona Rosa table service (that is a table with a bottle of liquor, limes, and juice or soda for mix or chaser) is usually around 40k-60k for domestic liquor, which is just FINE for 2 people. If you don't finish the bottle you can take it out with you :) Some places offer 1/2 and even 1/4 services. Beers are generally around 4k or so.

If you want to limit it to 100k a day I'd say the Zona Rosa is fine but avoid Pepe Sierra and around the 93, those get a little pricey, although going ONCE to El Sitio is probably worth it. IF your gf and you are up for it I'd say go to 1 de mayo or Restrepo to party. That's where the working class in BOG goes, and it's much cheaper and frankly much more fun IMO too.
