Current visa info,

I have a 12 month visa for " actividades independientes " which I need to re-new July 2nd.

Is it best to renew the visa here ( I am in England to the end of the month ) or in Bogota when I return . I live a long way from London and I don't want to go there if I don't have to.
Other question , how long before the expiry date can I renew the visa .
I was going to stop at Bogota to renew it when I return end of May but after the experience of a mate of mine recently , he was there a week jumping thru' hoops.( problems proving he was married to a colombiana ) .
Is there anyone whom has renewed this type of visa in Bogota that could give me good info.
