Cumbre de la OEA mostró que Colombia está aislada del continente, dicen analistas

Expertos en relaciones exteriores consultados por Caracol Radio consideran que la cumbre de cancilleres en la sede de la OEA demostró que Colombia no tiene apoyo del continente en la lucha contra el 'terrorismo', aunque, según ellos, las relaciones con Ecuador se restablecerán rápidamente.

El ex embajador de Colombia ante la OEA Alvaro Tirado, manifestó que a pesar de los acercamientos que se lograron con el gobierno ecuatoriano, fue notoria la falta de trabajo diplomático por parte de Colombia para conseguir apoyo en la lucha contra las FARC, manteniéndoles el calificativo de terroristas.

Para el internacionalista Pedro Medellín, Colombia fue el gran perdedor de la cumbre de cancilleres, por la incapacidad de imponer el principio de legítima defensa, perdiendo así margen de maniobra para combatir a las FARC.

Uno de los fenómenos que para los analistas jugó en contra de Colombia, fue el fortalecimiento de Brasil como la gran potencia de la OEA, por encima de Estados Unidos, teniendo en cuenta que el gobierno brasileño no considera a las FARC como un grupo terrorista.

El analista de Relaciones Internacionales de la Universidad Nacional, Carlos Patiño, dijo que la diplomacia colombiana es pasiva y poco profesional, con lo cual se hace muy difícil que haya un consenso en el continente a favor de los intereses colombianos.

Sin embargo, todos los analistas consultados coincidieron en que la dinámica comercial en la zona de frontera entre Colombia y Ecuador hará que el gobierno del vecino país restablezca las relaciones diplomáticas rápidamente.

Those are two separate issues Dolfi. Colombians don't WANT to get too cozy with the US. The current adminisration does, but it's not where popular opinion is. Colombians tolerate Uribe because they want the FARC gone. Once the problem of the FARC is solved you will see a very different tack politically in Colombia, it will become much more centrist and less involved with the US.

The new facts are its results (light) and problems that Chavez and maybe Correa will have to face internally and perhaps internationally in the near future.
