I think u should get one of those papers called 'La Guia Clasificados' to compare the lease prices. If you are renting them then you shouldnt pay the maintance or anything... :P

You don't know what apartments sell for but you're already planning on buying two for income purposes?

It's likely at today's real estate prices you might be losing money on them, month to month.

So does anybody have an idea of how much these apartments go by? I also wondered about it when I was there.

Thanks!

Sorry I was not too specific, it is in Bogota Cuidad Salitre, I was there last year to visit friends and I liked the place very much , did not have time to check out prices , I was too busy having a good time :). since I will be retiring in less than 3 years, i thought to invest some of my retirement money there

yes MR. Hollywood I don't know what apartments go for but am planning to invest, I am just exploring the market and it is just an idea.

Hiker you can wing it if you want, asking that question here but if you really want the facts you should get an avaluo which will cost you around $200.000. If you don´t know where to look for that service just ask your Colombian bank who they use.

Hiker - if you are investing in Bogota to rent to foreigners then the best areas are around Zona Rosa or P 93; possibly extending to Useqen area or Chap alto. That stated you could aim it towards those who need to ccess the us embassy. As a general area it could go ahead (ie renting to colombians / cap appreciation) as it is a nice area andfor eg the BBC owners are smart business men and have recognised a market there.

I think that there are better locations in Bogota.. Other than Gran Estacion *mall*, you can't walk *anywhere* from Ciudad Salitre. It's very bland and I think is over-rated.. I'd be surprised if the prices were higher too simply becuase of the lustre of the shiny new buildings.

I'd choose something older, renovateable in a good area that is more central - Maybe a few blocks east of the AutoNorte to a few blocks East of La Septima from Call 63 upwards (same as Bickers first suggestion). Its closer, probably more attractive to foreigners and you can upgrade it to your likes.

You could find apartments more or less from 140.000.000 up to 220.000 depending on the size and what floor.

Dude, I've tried that, that's why I'm asking. It doesn't say apartments in Salitre only zones and stuff like that and I have no clue.

Thanks webmanco! that gives me an idea. I was in Quinta Paredes last year and really liked that area, including the one by Gran Estación and Salitre.

It has it by Salitre;

go to the main page, then select occidental.

Once once on that page in Sectores - select Salitre

ciudad salitre range from estrato 3 to estrato5 to me personally is one of my favourites places to live in Bogotá, it is very central, close to the airport, terminal, good shopping centers and amenities, Maloka is situated there, good transport system etc . I think a few days ago i saw an article in metro cuadrado about the places where the property went up in prices and ciudad salitre was included.

I am with jonas. It doesnt make sense to me buying a flat in Ciudad salitre when you can get obviously nicer stuff at Chico or Santa Barbara

Nicer but the price will be even higher and to rent out it would be easier in Salitre. Same apartment in Chico, Santan or Santa Barbara could go from 10 millions up.

I doubt there are many Estrato 3 in Salitre.

why do people always want to live close to an airport? I just don´t get it. I go to the airport maybe 8 to 10 times a year and what do I care if it takes 30 minutes or 15?
