Could use some help here...

My fiance and her daughter now reside in the Quinta Paredes neighbourhood of Bogota and are looking for a school that teaches English. This would be in addition to the girl's regular school...(grade 6). She does have some information on a place called 'Orange Entertainment' that teaches English but as I understand it, the classes are only 50 miutes on Saturday only, and the cost is 330,000 pesos per month. To my mind, this is rather expensive as it works out to approx 40,000+ per hour. Is this the norm?

Would any of you have any advice or know of a school that has a ggod reputation.

Appreciate any help you can give me.

Terry

That's a lot more than 40.000 per hour. I don't know about bogota but in medellin you can find decent institutes that are about 5k pesos an hour. Besides only 50 minutes a week isn't worth it for language study. There are students in the institute where I work that only study on saturdays for a few hours and their english level is far lower than students who study 2 hours for 4 days a week. Learning a language takes a lot of practice and if they're not in a classroom than chances are they are not practicing.

Colombo Americano is a decent school. I don't know the prices because I never went there. I have met many people who went there and they all rave about it. Check out their website.

Before you send them anywhere make sure that the teachers can actually speak English. You'd be surprised.

Your English is quite good, LilaM. I would be content if my Spanish was as good as your English.

ejejej JS thanks working hard on my english and I learn a lot with you guys here in PBH. But I can say that I´m not able to give english classes.. that´s why I said that. The best thing is to have a Native english teacher, if not the accent that the kid learn can be cruel jjejeje
