Cost of Drugs (Legal kind)

Over the past 2 years I have been taking a drug called Dovir. It is similar to Vicodin, but not as affective. The upside is that I can get Dovir OTC from my local farmacia. Since January, I have seen this medication increase its price almost 18%-20% at the mdmultidrogas I use. Today I went in and talked to the owner and told him that in one moth the cost went up 15% and that is just too much of an increase to warrant me paying. It went from $48,600 to $55,850. I can go to Olympia a block away and pay $7,250 less for 30 tabs.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience. The store owner said that he doesn't want to lose me as a customer, but I told him that this price is unecessary and that I can get if for less at Olympia and other drug stores. I really like the store and the people who work there , but there is a point of diminishing return. I told him that he needs to talk to his supplier and tell them that he is about to lose a customer who bought over $5million worth of drugs from his store last year and he is about to lose a valuable customer.

Is there anyplace I can write and tell my story or am I just being a tightwad?

I was told that drugs here cost the same as in the U.S. Is this true? I wonder how the store owners can justify this other than greed.

Drugs are cheaper in Colombia. Are you factoring in if he drugs are "generic"? I always buy generic. Way cheaper.

Sounds Logical.... If the generic in the US are suspect, then why not here? There are a lot (A LOT!) less controls here than in the US, so lots more potential for cheating. On the other hand, I vouch for the generic Viagra (not that I need it) , claritin, aspirin and acetaminophen with codeine.

I found prescription drugs to be on the expensive side in Colombia-as compared to Mexico anyway.

The store owner as mentioned sounds on the greedy side though, it's typical of operations in the developing world-they think the more you buy the more you should pay.

More than 50% of prescription drugs are bogus in Colombia.

Well the Naproxen I bought was the real thing but it had 'an edge' to it unlike the smooth stuff I buy here in Canada-I'm on some now in fact.

Interesting the cheapo stuff for sale in the USA-non-prescription-also has a bit of a speedy/sickly 'edge' to it.

One can buy a "felpita", i.e. cocaine-wrap (bit less than a gram) from any of a number of dealers that hang around the 86 with 14 - you'd be looking at between 5k and 10k a shot. From the sound of things it would be a great deal cheaper, and probably more effective, than many of the legal alternatives on offer from the farmacias around the block.

Unless we are talking about sexual virility, of course, in which case it might be better off to stick to generic brand viagra ;)

Rikito,
Have you tried the drug Sinalgen? It is exactly marked and is Vicodin I believe M357. Scored white tablet.

SDG sez ""More than 50% of prescription drugs are bogus in Colombia."

Got a link or reference to that?? sounds a little over the top to me...

Sure, it's a slow poison, but who's in a hurry?

Tramadol is working better for me than vicoden. 100mg in the Am and 200 mg in the PM.

Catfish35, I haven't tried Sinalgen becaue it is twice as expensive a Dovir and few farmacias carry it. I will check on the Tramadol. The Dovir only comes in 5mg pills. I have to take 20 pills per day to get any benefit.

I just looked up Tramadol in Wiki and it sounds great...much better than what I have now. I'll get soem today if possible and report back

thanks

With Tramadol- no constipation too and perhaps less adictive. I've been using it for over 1 month and haven't had to increase my dose. Has helped my back, shoulder and general arthritis pain. Can be used with Tylenol. I use asprin 2x daily too.

Just got some Tramadol yesterday. Package of 10 100mg. pills cost me $53,500COL. I can't say yet wheter it is better than Dovir. I do think it has a longer lasting effect. Once again thanks for the help on this. I took 400 mg., 100 x 4 times(the max amount suggested and I did not get drowsy), with Dovir it would put me out for 2/3 hours.

Wow that's a high price. I pay no more than 10K for the pills and 2.5K for a vile of 100mg for injection. The other day I bought 3 pac's of cap's, 2 viles and 2 injection kits for under 30K. 400mg is a big dose. You must have some seriuos pain. Every day it seems that I'm making improvement (less pain and more flexability) with my shoulder and back. Plan to stop injections and reduce to 250mg total per day. Come on down to Cartago and stock up.
