Cost of a wedding in Colombia?

What is the estimated cost of a wedding in Colombia? So far I have paid $500 for the ring and $500,000 pesos for for her dress. What else is needed? flowers, food and drinks, church, reception hall, etc... This is my first and last church wedding.

Probably you will need to start looking for another potential wife...............cos when this one realises what sort of a cheap f--k you are.........she'll be off........$500 for the ring.....gimme a break.......is it made of plastic...?

But maybe he bought it in a really big sale?

that depends what kind of wedding you want, mine was very cheap nothing expensive and we have a great time I didn't want all those fancy thing and was paid for my parents.......the rings were not expensive either, just an 18k gold bands i think that was enough and he gave me an engagement emerald ring nothing over the top.

and we have been married for 18 years

the average woman in Colombia really doesn't put much value on rings and jewelry to show signs of love in a relationship...one reason being that it is a form of giving papaya therefore leading to some kind of robbery.....that's one thing that lead me here is that they aren't so materialistic.....compared to the average north America woman who looks at the material before the love.....I spent 1,000,000 about 5 years ago and she has worn the ring twice...it kept in the original box in a drawer.....frankly I could be finishing my roof with that money...

Well you are right that I wouldn't be happy but it all depends on how much the guy is worth, weddings are very expensive and although we do dream about our dresses and diamonds from when we are little girls, in the end they are just material things, what counts is that he treats her like a princesa after the wedding.

It's always amusing to me when I hear about how much someone spent for this or that. You know what? Who cares!! If it was true love you can give her a ring got out of a gumball machine and that would be more than enough.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who pays $5k for a ring is stupid and materialistic. If you truly need expensive gifts to keep anyone around then that person is not worth your time and effort. But of course, American men have been brainwashed into thinking that they have to spend big if you "really" lover her. What a JOKE!!

If you bought an expenisve ring for you fiance it could set her up as a target for ladrones looking for easy prey.

Don't act like a rich American, no need to overspend to impress anyone, especially in Colombia. Keep it simple.

Good Luck!!

this how much to spend on a ring stuff is the kind of stuff that worries me about getting married to a Colombian. Isn't something moderately priced and pretty enough, as the couple has so many other things to deal with financially with an intercultural marriage? I think 500 dollars, on a good buy, should be fine, or otherwise, maybe the woman is not the right woman.

It's funny how everyone focused on the price of the ring and no one answered the question. My ex-wife (not legally) told me she want a ring for $50,000. She and I lived in a mult-million dollar house with a pool and 4 cars. I paid all the bills while she worked and saved all her money. She said I did nothing for her that no other man wouldn't do! This is why I left America. $$$$$$$$$$ can not buy love or happiness. I lived a great life financial but was never happy. I tried to buy love once I will not do this again.

Compared to the amount of money it costs to maintain an international relationship and fly to Colombia all the time, $5K is chump change. Buying a nice gift for someone does not necessarily mean that you are buying their affections.

Just because you don't agree with how someone decides to spend their money, does not make them stupid or materialistic. On the other hand, making blanket judgments and generalizations... Well, you get the idea.

Since she will have to learn how to drive, I told her that she will get a cheap and used Honda Civic since everyone invariably crashes their first car. Once she starts working, she can buy whatever kind of car she can buy whatever kind of car she wants.

The main reason I did not marry one of my upper estrato girlfriends is that I wanted someone who was accustomed to working and knew the value of money. My American ex-wife came from a wealthy family and essentially went from daddy to hubby taking care of her. I learned my lesson well. Thank God that Texas is not an alimony state.
