Container shipping to Buenaventura

I am planning to ship household goods in a 20 ft. container to Colombia later this year. How are the customs people at the port in Buenaventura? Do they open up every box to see if you have any prohibited items or things that are not on the manifest..I have heard both YES and NO answers to this question..Who really knows the answer...I do think it would be impossible to open every container and every box that came off a ship at such a busy port..

zak... do a google search on this...i have written extensively on this and there is a lot of info. and yes i am very familiar with containers in and containers out of colombia at both cartagena and buenaventura both commercial and personal effects.

personal effects are not only opened and examined, t-shirt by t-shirt, they are picked over and you get what's left.

google this and pm me with any particular questions you might have.

I am also interested in distinguish when to use a "S.I.A"(Sociedad de intermediacion Aduanera) or a "comercializadora". I hired one of them to send some commercial samples in leather(Bags, belts, wallets) to US but at the end I just sent them throught TNT mail. I wonder now what's the next step..could you pm me?

Màs fe, màs abrazos, màs besos, màs disculpas, màs visitas a nuestros amigos antiguos nos haràn màs plenos cada vez.
